Enduring the shuddering sensation of the drop pod breaking through the atmosphere, Lin Fan could see the general situation outside through the internal holographic display.
Most of the Orks' anti-aircraft guns had supposedly been cleared out, but quite a few scattered small-caliber guns were still firing into the sky.
"I'm doing it! I'm doing it!" Tech-Priest Delia connected her mechanical plug to the drop pod's data slate, using it to control the pod's external rocket nozzles and make minute adjustments to its trajectory.
"Control! Control has failed!" Delia's panicked voice echoed through the entire drop pod.
The rapidly falling craft carried Lin Fan and the others as it drifted off in another direction.
"May The Emperor protect us." Damian sat in his seat, silently made the Aquila salute, then closed his eyes and waited for fate to arrive.
"We've already broken through the Orks' anti-aircraft net. Nothing could happen now." Old Jock was completely unconcerned. Lin Fan had always felt that the man was remarkably carefree.
