"And let me tell you, in... ahem, a book, a very old, ancient book, there was a story like this." Lin Fan told Little Yi about the lore from the first edition of Warhammer he had read, the setting from Rogue Trader.
"There were Aeldari hybrids. Though I'm not sure what five-helix DNA and double-helix DNA could produce together, back then there was a Librarian from the Ultramarines Chapter called Illiyan Nastase. He was half-Aeldari..."
"Really?" Little Yi was thrilled and hurriedly asked, "What happened next?"
"Next?" Lin Fan scratched his head. The setting had later been retconned by GW, and he had no idea whether this universe still followed those old rules.
"Ahem... You seem to know a great deal about us."
"In fact, I know everything."
Lin Fan answered instinctively as he turned around, only to see Many-Faced and Yvraine standing behind him. It seemed Many-Faced had finally finished reprimanding his prized student.
Yvraine's face flushed crimson after hearing something she should not have heard. She shot Lin Fan a vicious glare, then stormed off to help her Wych sisters.
Many-Faced, meanwhile, spoke apologetically. "My student was somewhat discourteous. She is merely a little shy."
"Ahem, no, no, this is all my fault..." Lin Fan felt rather awkward. After all, discussing how another intelligent species reproduced was rather strange, especially since this was not some cultural exchange conference.
"But I am still curious. Why do you know us so well? As far as I know, the Imperium of Man is now driven by ignorance and hatred. It could not possibly teach systematic knowledge about us... And... some of the things you mentioned are known even to me only in scant detail."
"Do you mean hybrids?"
"Exactly."
"Are there simply no examples, or were attempts made and found impossible?"
