What did Slaanesh usually do? Or rather, what did the Four Gods generally do?
It was a very interesting—and very heretical—question.
To the soldiers of the Imperium, those damn Chaos Gods simply wanted to destroy the Imperium and cast humanity into an abyss of eternal damnation.
But the Four Gods did not want to destroy the Imperium of Man just like that.
Leaving aside whether that sun would go berserk upon the extinction of all humanity, the deaths of an entire galaxy-spanning empire's population alone would be enough to leave the Four Gods reeling.
Sure, everyone had a great time during slaughter, but what came afterward? After the thrill was gone, who would fill humanity's void? The Aeldari, with their abysmal birth rate? The thoughts of greenskin mushrooms? Or the T'au, who were not particularly sensitive to the Warp?
And considering humanity's tendency to drag everyone down with them in a final desperate struggle, whether the T'au could survive the indiscriminate slaughter of a dying beast was still a question.
The galaxy would once again enter a barren age devoid of life, while the twisted emotions accumulated in the Warp would gradually be depleted over time.
The Four Gods would experience a surge in power, then steadily decline until the sea of souls within the Warp could no longer sustain their awareness.
They would grow apathetic, indifferent to the affairs of the galaxy. Or worse, they might simply fall asleep.
Everyone would return to the dull days before the War in Heaven. No god wanted to see such a future come to pass. That was why the Horus Heresy had only ended with the Imperium trapped in enduring suffering, rather than a change of dynasty or total mutual destruction.
Everyone being half-dead and barely hanging on was what best allowed
