With orders in hand, he only needed to fulfill his duty as a Fire Warrior: obey orders and win victory.

Yan Ou turned back to the soldiers. "Prepare to charge. At any cost."

The soldiers did not waver. One hand braced against the trench wall, they waited for the covering fire to arrive.

Tens of thousands of vehicles provided fire support for the frontline warriors from dozens of kilometers away. Inside their armored hulls, the crews could observe the sturdy trench-wall sections through magnified screens.

The Hammerheads' heavy railguns were ready, and the Sky Rays' Seeker missiles had their flight parameters programmed. At a single order from Shadowsun, they would pour all their firepower onto the human positions.

"Fire!"

Almost instantly, fiercer gunfire drowned out the entire battlefield. Projectiles launched by the railguns, traveling at ten times the speed of sound, tore through the air. Anyone near their flight path could even feel as though the air were being sucked from their lungs.

These hypersonic rounds were the first to strike the sturdy wall sections. They unleashed power far beyond that of equivalent explosives, crashing into the walls with thunderous blasts and violent tremors.

That sensation might have been bearable once, but when so many hypersonic shells struck the defensive line almost simultaneously, the soldiers within could no longer endure the horrific noise.

Hundreds of thousands of soldiers holding the line were shaken to the ground. Their bodies trembled as the teeth-grinding noise continued to ravage them, even the bones beneath their armor splitting inch by inch with fine cracks.

But that was only the beginning. The missiles that followed created a second wave of impact. The violet flames of the explosions were mysterious and profound, yet no one had any desire to admire such a sight.

"Charge!"
