Trazyn had performed many dissections. The xenos anatomy books currently used by the Imperium had still been written and proofread by him. He understood this situation more deeply; in the past, he had merely regarded the similarities between species as coincidence.
But now, it seemed that was not the case.
The species created by the Old Ones were very similar to creatures that had evolved naturally in the universe. Had the Old Ones borrowed the universe's ideas, or had the universe borrowed the Old Ones' ideas?
No one could explain that clearly.
"These 'humans' do not refer to humans specifically, but to all creatures of the same type..." Orikan shared his thoughts with Trazyn. "These humans were making grand preparations with the aid of the ancient Aeldari and High Technology Association technicians..."
"And that throne was the device meant to complete those preparations...!" Trazyn added what Orikan had left unsaid.
A factory for producing suffering, a machine for extracting souls.
And the wreckage of a Pharos Beacon made by their race floated in the air. This thing was actually Terra's Astronomican, providing a sufficiently stable reference point within the Warp for navigation.
At the height of the War in Heaven, the Warp and the material universe had been almost indistinguishable. The terrifying battle between the C'tan and the Old Ones had stirred up overwhelming tsunamis of souls.
These humans had been attempting to replicate the soul tsunami of the War in Heaven, drawing souls into the throne in a controlled manner, while using the beacon to attract even more souls from the Warp.
"Our bodies are separated, but our souls merge as one... and what this person ultimately sought to achieve was..."
"The God-Emperor." Orikan had an answer, but after thinking for a while, he still felt something was off.
