Chapter Summaries

Perturabo coordinated the battle on Cadia until Lion El'Jonson attacked him, mistaking him and the forces around him for traitors. Rogal Dorn continued fighting the Degraded Ones as communication with Perturabo failed and another defensive line fell.

• Perturabo sensed danger in his command room and raised the Iron Wings to block Lion El'Jonson's surprise attack.
• Lion declared himself the executioner of traitors and attacked Perturabo, while the Lamenters' weapons failed to harm him.
• Several Lamenters charged Lion, who beheaded them and concluded that Perturabo, his forces, and the expeditionary troops were all traitors.

• Rogal Dorn tried to contact Perturabo for fire support, then assigned a Black Templar to send bombardment requests every three seconds.

Lin Fan decided the Drach'nyen daemon sword’s remaining hilt could help him seal the Emperor, so he set out with the others to retrieve it from Mortarion near Cadia. The chapter then shifted to Jaghatai receiving a taunting communication from Mortarion.

• Lin Fan rejected the Primarchs’ plan to seal the Emperor themselves and asked how he could kill the Emperor without causing too much harm.
• Isha offered to absorb the Emperor’s excess power, but Lin Fan warned that taking in Khorne’s essence had harmed her before.

Mortarion tried to contact Jaghatai, who provoked him with one-word replies until Mortarion suffered a heart attack. As Mortarion ordered his fleet to attack, intruders broke into his ship, and Lin Fan charged him, shattering his scythe with a palm strike.

• Mortarion repeatedly called Jaghatai, who blocked his communications and mocked him through sorcery.

Lin Fan arrived on Cadia and surveyed the devastation before turning toward the battles below. At a besieged Expeditionary Force position, Jon and his surviving soldiers faced the advancing Men of Iron as Booker opened a crate of T-Series Life Vaccine.
