Stark Industries Press Conference
Backstage
Pepper watched Tony walk toward the front of the press conference with worry in her eyes.
She was uneasy. Tony had only just returned home, taken a shower, changed clothes, and immediately demanded that a press conference be arranged.
Worried that the past few months of captivity had affected his mental state, she hurriedly sent little Morgan to call Qin Yi over.
Little Morgan was clinging to Qin Yi nearby.
She wanted Uncle to carry her outside to play.
Qin Yi helplessly ruffled the little girl's hair.
"Morgan, you're grown up now. Uncle can't carry you around like he did when you were little."
"No! I won't!"
Little Morgan grabbed Qin Yi's arm with both hands and shook it desperately.
Qin Yi remembered a joke from the internet in his previous life.
"My daughter was born. To avoid suspicion, I jumped into a river and killed myself."
But Qin Yi simply couldn't withstand the little girl's pitiful eyes.
"Alright, alright. Uncle will carry you on his back and take you out to play later."
Once the little girl stopped, she happily burrowed into Qin Yi's arms.
Pepper came over and gestured for little Morgan to be quiet for a moment before asking Qin Yi,
"Qin, did something trigger Tony?"
Qin Yi looked up and thought for a moment. Once this press conference was over, Stark Industries' stock price would probably keep plummeting.
After all, what kind of arms company swore it would never produce weapons again?
It would be strange if its stock price didn't fall.
"Pepper, don't worry. Tony's just figured some things out. By the way, how much liquid capital do Tony and I have in our accounts?"
Though Pepper didn't quite understand why Qin Yi was asking, she answered professionally,
"Tony doesn't have that much, only a few billion or so. As for you, let me check..."
Pepper flipped through the tablet she carried with her, then said in disbelief,
"Oh my God, Qin, does your game company make that much money?"
Qin Yi froze at her words. Was A Wei really that capable?
Pepper continued,
"Since Prototype was released, it has made nearly 6.2 billion in profit over two years. After corporate taxes and 1 billion in employee dividends and benefits, you have roughly 3 billion left in your account."
Qin Yi did some rough calculations in his head. That damned United States government actually charged the maximum rate of 35%.
Just you wait, you bastards.
"Qin?"
Snapping back to his senses, Qin Yi hurriedly said,
"Pepper, once the press conference is over, Stark Industries' stock price will probably drop quite a bit. Buy as much as you can."
Pepper gave Qin Yi a surprised look, then hurried toward the press conference hall.
Stark Industries Press Conference
When Tony, who had been missing for three months, appeared holding a hamburger, the reporters below erupted into thunderous applause. Tony raised a hand, and the venue quieted down.
Tony sat on the floor and spoke to himself.
"I saw a lot of young people being killed, and the weapons killing them were the very weapons I created to protect them..."
Ignoring the reporters constantly raising their hands, Tony stood up.
"I realized that I can do more for this world than just make explosions...
"Effective immediately, I will permanently shut down Stark Industries' weapons manufacturing division. Stark Industries will no longer sell weapons until I decide the company's future..."
With a roar, a crowd of reporters rose to their feet.
Ignoring the questions from the crowd, Obadiah Stane grabbed Tony and pushed him backstage.
Camera flashes went off without pause, bathing the smiling Stane in light.
With a genial smile, he told the reporters below,
"We only need to remember one thing: Tony is back. He came back safely. I think he needs some time to rest."
Backstage,
A balding middle-aged man approached with a folder in hand. When he saw the scene before him, he smiled and nodded at Qin Yi, who was lying on the sofa with Morgan in his arms.
Qin Yi looked up and saw the balding Phil Coulson walking toward Tony.
Qin Yi curled his lip and muttered inwardly,
The newbie village chief has appeared. Doesn't that mean I've returned to the newbie village at max level?
Phil Coulson
S.H.I.E.L.D... Level 8 agent of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. A diehard fan of Captain America, and an ordinary man in the Marvel Universe filled with superheroes.
He had come to investigate Tony Stark's kidnapping, as well as how Tony had returned to the United States without any record of entering the country.
After Stane pushed him backstage from the press conference platform, Tony saw a balding middle-aged man smiling and nodding at him.
"Mr. Stark, I'm Agent Phil Coulson of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. I..."
As Tony walked toward Qin Yi on the sofa, he said,
"I don't take unscheduled meetings."
Pepper stepped forward and said to Coulson apologetically,
"I'll put it on the schedule."
Coulson nodded.
"Thank you." He turned and left.
Tony held little Morgan's hand, looking somewhat lost.
Qin Yi stood and said to Tony and Pepper,
"Let's go home... I ordered some food. Let's go to my new place. Bring Bucky too. You guys haven't visited since it was finished a few years ago."
The group headed toward the parking lot.
Reporters kept questioning them along the way.
"Mr. Stark, why are you shutting down the weapons manufacturing division..."
"Mr. Qin Yi, will your game company's enormous profits affect the healthy development of American teenagers..."
Bucky sat coldly in the driver's seat, waiting for them.
Even as they reached the car, reporters continued snapping pictures.
Once everyone got in, Qin Yi looked back and thought, What the hell does the development of American teenagers have to do with me?
The moment Qin Yi turned around, countless reporters frantically pressed their shutters. This handsome, eligible bachelor rarely appeared in public.
Having finally caught this opportunity, they had to take a few more shots.
With Stark Industries shutting down its weapons manufacturing division and photos of Qin Yi's handsome turn, this newspaper's sales were guaranteed.
On the way to Mokong Tower, Qin Yi in the passenger seat couldn't help recalling
that ever since graduating, he had gone a long time without using any means of transportation.
After all, no matter how fast a vehicle was, it couldn't compare to a spatial vortex teleportation.
After sitting silently in the back seat for a while, Tony spoke.
"Qin, I plan to have Stark Industries focus on clean energy from now on. Release the intelligent home assistant whenever you have time."
Qin Yi suddenly remembered the other plot of land he had bought before.
"How about building a new company tower next to my place? I have a piece of land that I bought years ago and never developed."
Tony nodded.
Bucky silently drove the car into the parking lot of Mokong Tower.
The group took the private elevator up to Qin Yi's new home.
After opening the door, Wanda nodded to them.
At the dining table,
Tony and Bucky, who had not properly eaten in months, and Qin Yi, who had already forgotten what food tasted like,
said little as the three of them silently devoured their meals.
After exchanging an awkward glance with Wanda, Pepper poured juice for little Morgan.
When Bucky looked up, he saw the scene before him.
Wanda sat quietly beside Qin Yi, picking food for him one moment and lovingly wiping the corner of his mouth with a handkerchief the next.
The three members of the Stark family sat together, the couple occasionally placing dishes they found tasty onto each other's plates.
Little Morgan sat between Tony and Pepper, constantly calling out "Dad," "Mom," "Uncle," and "Sister."
The corner of Bucky's cold face twitched. Suddenly, he missed Steve.
