"Off work, off work." A man looked at the clock on the wall. When he saw that it was five in the afternoon, he shouted excitedly, "We can finally get off work on time today."
Hearing this, the other workers raised their heads, joy appearing on their faces.
One woman put down her tool and stretched deeply. With a sigh, she said, "Ah, it's finally time to get off work. After working all day, I feel exhausted."
There was a trace of weariness in her voice, but even more anticipation for the workday to end.
"Yeah, working eight hours every day is really exhausting." Another woman chimed in. "But compared to more than two years ago, we're already very fortunate. Back then, we had to work over ten hours a day, and sometimes we couldn't even eat our fill."
"Exactly," the first man continued. "Back then, our lives were simply hellish torment. But now? Not only do we have enough time to rest, but we also get free food. It's the difference between heaven and hell."
Everyone laughed at that. They began packing up their things, preparing to leave the workshop for the cafeteria. Once they finished eating, they could clock out directly.
However, at that moment, a voice suddenly rang out. "What are you all chatting about here? Hurry up and eat. You still have to work four hours of overtime after dinner."
The moment they heard that, everyone's expressions turned ugly. They had thought they could get off work on time today, but they still had to work four hours of overtime.
"You've got to be kidding, overtime again?" someone muttered unhappily. "Working eight hours a day is exhausting enough. Now we have to work overtime too? Isn't that killing us?"
