After equipping themselves with their weapons, the Space Marines mounted their motorcycles under Gray's command, rode out of the base, and charged into the dim Underhive to begin their slaughter.
After the Space Marines set out, the naval combat personnel also finished assembling. Once equipped, they departed in their armored personnel carriers, following behind the Space Marines.
The Defense Force, having the largest numbers, assembled the slowest, but they still completed their assembly within half an hour and followed behind in armored vehicles and troop carriers.
After leaving the base, the Space Marines split into five-man combat squads and scattered in all directions to fight.
Each combat squad consisted of a squad leader and four warriors. The distance between squads did not exceed one kilometer, allowing for rapid and effective support.
"Brothers, turn on the music and draw those monsters' attention."
Squad leader David looked at the four fully armed comrades beside him and said with a grin.
His voice traveled from his helmet into his teammates' earpieces. Every Space Marine helmet had a long-range communicator that could connect to all Space Marines.
"Not bad. Let's get loud and draw all those monsters over here. Best if we wipe them out in one go and don't leave even a scrap of merit for the navy."
One teammate's voice came through the helmet earpiece. The others also agreed with David's idea.
This was a hunting operation. Their main mission was to hunt dangerous targets in the Underhive, not launch sneak attacks or carry out assassinations, so none of the squad members had any intention of opposing their leader's proposal. They all approved.
Making noise would draw the attention of the Genestealers and all kinds of dangerous creatures in the Underhive, saving them the trouble of searching for targets.
The five men switched on the powerful lights on their motorcycles and began playing intense music.
The booming music carried far through the empty Underhive, even startling Gray several kilometers away.
Gray could not help asking directly over the communication channel.
"Who's causing trouble?"
"Captain, our squad is playing music."
David's reply came through Gray's communication channel.
Hearing that, Gray asked in confusion.
"What are you doing, making such a huge commotion during combat?"
"We want to draw those monsters out directly. It'll be much easier that way, and we won't have to search everywhere for targets."
David answered honestly.
"Forget it. This is your squad's decision. Just watch your safety."
After thinking it over, Gray felt that although David's method was somewhat crude, it would indeed save a great deal of time, so he no longer intended to reprimand him.
"Yes."
The Space Marines sped through the Underhive on heavy motorcycles. The Defense Force had already cleared the area for dozens of kilometers around, making it temporarily safe. They needed to leave that safe zone before encountering danger.
As the Space Marines rode through the dilapidated Underhive, their high-profile arrival drew the attention of certain evil creatures.
"Beep beep."
A warning of dangerous targets appeared on David's visor. He looked toward the targets and spotted several Genestealers charging toward them across the ground. The Genestealers' towering bodies were impossible to miss.
Without David needing to remind them, the other four received the alert through their visors as well. The five quickly drew plasma pistols with their left hands and fired directly at the targets. Five blue streaks flashed through the air.
The heads of the Genestealers still charging at them were instantly vaporized by the plasma pistols' heat. Before the Genestealers even hit the ground, David and the others had already ridden far past their corpses.
Having effortlessly killed alien creatures they had once considered invincible, the men showed no reaction. Their expressions remained indifferent as they continued riding onward.
After leaving the safe zone, the firing of Ripper Rifles in the Space Marines' hands rang out continuously, then quickly fell silent again. For the moment, no one spoke over the communication channel.
Killing as they traveled, the Space Marines encountered the first city in the Underhive after covering dozens of kilometers: Totka.
Totka City was controlled by several gangs and had a population of more than four hundred thousand. The arrival of the Space Marines alarmed the gangs within the city.
Several hundred gang members atop the city walls stared in shock when they saw nearly two hundred motorcycles approaching from outside. Every rider wore magnificent armor and carried massive weapons.
Upon seeing the city, Gray immediately gave the order over the communication channel. "Storm the city. Take it."
"Yes."
The Space Marines answered in low voices.
With agile movements, the Space Marines leaped from their moving motorcycles, gripped their Ripper Rifles, and sprinted toward Totka City.
Before arriving, Gray had already obtained information about the nearby cities from Gaia. The gang members here were a group of vicious scum who ruled Totka City through bloody methods.
When a gang leader saw the Space Marines rushing toward them, he shouted, "Enemy attack! Alert!"
Startled awake by the leader's shout, everyone instantly assumed combat positions, crouching behind cover and aiming their guns at the Space Marines. One gang member fired a red signal flare into the sky, where it burst open in red.
A fanatical gang member wheeled out a double-barreled shotgun, aimed at the Space Marines still running beneath the wall, and prepared to pull the trigger.
Bang!
A thunderous gunshot rang out, and the gang member preparing to fire was killed with a shot to the head. A Space Marine still on the move had killed a man with a mere raise of his hand.
The gang members atop the wall kept firing, trying to stop the Space Marines from approaching. However, ordinary firearms could not even scratch the ceramite armor, let alone hit the agile Space Marines in the first place.
Within seconds, the Space Marines reached the city wall several hundred meters away. While running, the power packs on their backs had been charging. Reaching the foot of the wall, they bent their legs slightly and leaped upward, vaulting onto the more than thirty-meter-high wall with the aid of their power packs.
After landing atop the wall, the Space Marines raised their Ripper Rifles and opened fire on the gang members still attacking below.
"Ah! Ah!"
The firing of the Space Marines' Ripper Rifles and the screams of the gang members formed the music of slaughter.
The battle was completely one-sided. Although some gang members realized that the Space Marines had already reached the wall, the ordinary rifles in their hands could not penetrate the ceramite armor at all. The battle began quickly and ended just as quickly.
In little more than ten seconds, over a hundred Space Marines killed all several hundred gang members on the city wall.
