Cheng Yu checked the time. "Probably after midnight."
"Okay." Cheng Shao said, "I'll be downstairs at your dorm building at twelve sharp. If you're not back yet, I'll wait outside."
As Cheng Shao spoke, inspiration struck him. "What did you have for dinner?"
Cheng Yu replied that he had hotpot. Cheng Shao immediately understood. "I'll have Auntie make you some little wontons. Or would you rather have seafood congee?"
Worried the wontons would turn into soggy dough by then, Cheng Yu said, "Seafood congee."
Cheng Shao hung up and returned to the hospital room to say goodbye to their grandparents. He did not dare tell them Cheng Yu had not eaten this late at night. Only after going downstairs did he call Auntie and ask her to make congee.
Chen Lingyun listened from the side without saying a word, only telling the driver to hurry. "You still have work tomorrow morning. The earlier we get home, the earlier we can sleep."
Cheng Shao glanced at Chen Lingyun and did not dare say much either.
Mother and son rode home in silence. Chen Lingyun went straight upstairs to wash up, while Cheng Shao first went to Cheng Yu's walk-in closet to pack a change of clothes, then to the study to get the drawing tools and reference books Cheng Yu wanted. Finally, he entered Cheng Yu's bedroom and took two sets of bedding and the pillow Cheng Yu was used to sleeping on. Once everything was ready, Auntie's congee was finished as well.
Cheng Shao carried the thermos while the family bodyguards carried the suitcases, and they set off for the dormitory. Chen Lingyun did not even come downstairs.
Meanwhile, on Cheng Yu's side, it was nearly midnight by the time the group finished hotpot. Zhu Jianxin drove Cheng Yu and
