The owner leaned close to the viewfinder and began directing their positions.
"Closer."
Silan and Hermione shuffled closer together.
"Closer still. Are you two planning to drive a carriage between you?"
The two had no choice but to move nearer. Their shoulders touched now, and the backs of their hands pressed tightly together.
"Good, just like that. Hold it..."
The instant the owner pressed the shutter, Silan and Hermione seemed to read each other's minds. They turned their wrists and grasped each other's hands.
Their fingers intertwined, intimately entwined.
"Click."
The camera captured the moment.
The owner removed the film, developed it in the darkroom, and after applying magical potion, the people in the photograph began to move.
"A perfect piece!" The owner was even more excited than they were. "I told you, you two are simply made for each other!"
"Here are your photos. Please take them."
Hermione accepted the photograph and found that the two people in it were pressed close together, smiles on both their faces. Their bodies were a little stiff, though, making them look almost frozen.
But looking further down, she could see their hands were very mischievously making little movements.
The backs of their hands rubbed together, their wrists turned...
First came the teasing hook of their little fingers, then their fingers clasped tightly together, fitting perfectly.
The photograph had captured the whole process, playing it over and over like a moving picture.
Hermione hugged the photograph happily, thinking that she had to put it by her bed.
That way, she would see Silan the moment she opened her eyes every morning.
After they stepped out of the shop, Hermione suddenly felt that something was amiss.
"Oh no!"
"I need to go back."
"What is it?" Silan asked curiously. "Did you forget something?"
"Secret."
