"Poor child..." Mrs. Clop knelt beside the Stone Platform and gently brushed her cheek against Jinky.
"Let her sleep for a while," Clop said.
They slowly walked out of the cave.
As soon as they emerged, Mrs. Clop turned and bit a tuft of Tail Hair from Clop's tail, then placed it on a rock.
"A token of our thanks, Mr. Prewett." Clop snorted and nudged the Tail Hair on the rock toward Silan. "Please accept it."
"This..." Silan hesitated.
"Please don't refuse." Mrs. Clop bowed her head to him. "It comes from both of us."
"All right, then." Silan accepted the Tail Hair.
As he put it into his ring, Silan made a rough count. There were dozens of hairs, worth over a hundred Galleons by any reckoning.
Once Silan had accepted the Tail Hair, Clop spoke again. "We have another gift for you."
Another one?
Clop turned to his wife. The two unicorns nodded to each other and moved closer together.
"What are they doing?" Hermione asked, puzzled.
"I'm not sure either..."
Before Silan could finish, both unicorns lowered their heads and struck their horns together.
Crack! Crack!
After two sharp snaps, Hermione stared in shock. The tips of both unicorns' horns had broken off.
"Why did they do that?" Hermione asked in surprise.
Silan was taken aback too. Was this the other gift Clop meant?
This was far too valuable.
Unicorn Horn was extremely rare and could be used in Potions. Even a horn that had lost most of its magic could sell for twenty-one Galleons.
And these had just been taken from living unicorns.
Clop picked up the two broken tips in his mouth and brought them to Silan. "These are for you."
"Isn't this too much?"
"Please accept them as a symbol of our friendship,"
