Hogwarts' Owlery stood at the top of the West Tower.
To get there, one had to climb the spiral staircase all the way up.
It was an extremely tall circular stone chamber.
It had numerous arched openings and hanging perches, making it easy for owls to fly in and out freely and rest.
The moment Silan entered the Owlery, seven or eight owls swarmed over from all directions and landed on several wooden perches in front of him.
As the magical world's designated messengers, owls were naturally somewhat attuned to magic.
This allowed them to locate any recipient with precision even without a specific address, no matter where that recipient was.
Perhaps this was an instinct strengthened through wizard breeding and magical influence.
Furthermore, with a little training, they could understand simple instructions from wizards.
