Silan wandered between the library shelves, his gaze skipping over the titles peeking out from the spines.
Alchemy was a profound and complex field of study.
Hogwarts students could not study it until their fifth year, and there were relatively few books on the subject.
After searching for a long time, Silan finally picked out a copy of An Introduction to Alchemy from the shelves.
"Madam Pince, please check this book out for me." Silan handed the book to Madam Pince.
"Another book on charms?" Madam Pince asked.
She was already quite familiar with Silan.
Since enrolling, the young wizard had borrowed the entire Standard Book of Spells series in just a few short months.
If Silan had not been taller than Professor Flitwick, she might even have suspected that he was Flitwick's son.
"No." Silan shook his head. "This one is about alchemy."
Madam Pince swiftly glanced over the cover, inwardly surprised.
Alchemy was an advanced discipline. Let alone young wizards, many adult wizards could not make sense of it.
Charms, Herbology, and Potions were the most fundamental subjects in the wizarding world. As long as one was a wizard and willing to put in the effort, one could more or less learn something.
But alchemy was different. Without talent, even ten years of study might not be enough to get started.
There were fewer than five people in the entire wizarding world who could be called masters of alchemy.
It was a dream-making discipline that could turn the rotten into the miraculous.
At its deepest levels, it could even create an Elixir of Life.
"I suggest you not aim too high. Wouldn't it be better to continue studying charms? You could borrow some autobiographies by dueling masters. They contain plenty of practical tips on using charms."
