Ch. 161A granddaughter who let him down, and Dugu Bo at a loss for tears
Plot and events
- Qin Moyu asks Dugu Bo to let the Blue Silver Clan’s plant-type soul beasts settle at the Icefire Yin Yang Well. Dugu Bo agrees immediately.
- The narration explains that Dugu Bo never understood the well’s true value or the worth of its immortal herbs, which is why he did not resent Tang San for taking them. He had mistaken his generosity for a friendship that would be repaid.
- Qin Moyu then asks Dugu Bo to keep an occasional eye on the Blue Silver King and the others while Qin is busy preparing for the Continental Advanced Spirit Master Academy Elite Tournament.
- Dugu Yan joins in, pleading with her grandfather to help because she and Qin Moyu are busy—and bluntly adds that Qin plans to take her on a date.
Character developments and interactions
- Dugu Bo shows strong loyalty to Qin Moyu, whom he regards as family and a far better investment than Tang San. Though taken aback at being asked to guard the soul beasts, he is pleased to hear Qin and Dugu Yan are growing closer and happily accepts the task.
- Qin Moyu presents the Blue Silver Clan as family and seeks a safe home and reliable protection for them.
- Dugu Yan playfully uses her relationship with Qin to persuade her grandfather, revealing their planned date and teasingly disregarding his dignity as a Titled Douluo.
Significant themes
- Family versus unreliable friendship: Dugu Bo values kinship more than promises of friendship, especially after his misplaced trust in Tang San.
- Knowledge and value: The well’s treasures were effectively worthless to Dugu Bo because he did not know what they were worth.
- Affection expressed through service: Dugu Bo’s support for Qin and the Blue Silver Clan—and his delight in the young couple’s date—shows how readily he turns care into practical help.
