Luo Yun lay there stiffly, letting the Female Fire Dragon inspect and sniff all over him.
Even though he had regained some strength, he still did not dare move or do anything that might cause a misunderstanding.
Of course, there was another reason: his Speed Boost had not activated, which meant this beautiful Female Fire Dragon bore him no hostility. Perhaps she was simply curious.
Sure enough, after finishing those strange actions, she gave him an unreadable look and lost interest in him. She turned around, returned to the Herbivore Dragon's corpse, lowered her head, and began tearing into it with great bites.
Although he could not understand what that look had meant, her behavior clearly showed that she had lost interest in him. Perhaps she had merely been judging whether he posed any threat.
After all, unless they were mates, Female Fire Dragons and Male Fire Dragons lived separately. They each had their own hunting territories and generally kept out of each other's way.
Once he was certain that this beautiful Female Fire Dragon truly had no interest in him, Luo Yun finally relaxed and hurried to recover his strength.
He was exhausted, aching, and starving. The sooner he regained his strength, the sooner he could hunt.
If this plain had so many Herbivore Dragons, there had to be other herbivores around too. There were surely plenty of small creatures like Roving Rabbits. And even if there were no Roving Rabbits, there should at least be mushrooms in the distant forest, right?
Come to think of it, when Female Fire Dragons hunted, they usually carried their prey back to their nests. If they did not, they normally ate only the softest and tastiest parts, leaving the rest behind.
Since this very beautiful Female Fire Dragon had not chosen to take her prey away, could he eat whatever she left behind later?
Even if the tastiest parts were gone, it was still meat! It had to taste better than mushrooms, right?
As he thought about it, tears of disappointment dribbled from the corner of Luo Yun's mouth. He was truly starving.
Thud, thud~
The heavy footsteps startled Luo Yun. The moment he opened his eyes, he saw the beautiful Female Fire Dragon carrying the prey toward him in her jaws.
Luo Yun did not believe she was kindly planning to share her prey with him. More likely, she intended to take it back to her nest.
So he would not even get scraps?
Beautiful Female Fire Dragon, could you please show this baby some mercy and leave me a bite to eat?
His beautiful dream had shattered before it had even begun. Was he only fit to chew mushrooms? If he had known this would happen, he might as well have reincarnated as a Poisonous Bird. At least mushrooms were their favorite food.
Uh... Thinking carefully about the Poisonous Bird's idiotic large eyes, Luo Yun shuddered and promptly strangled that terrifying thought.
While Luo Yun's thoughts ran wild, the Herbivore Dragon corpse, reeking of blood, was tossed right in front of him. Its belly skin had been torn open, exposing layers of red-and-white fat. The sight alone made a dragon's appetite surge.
With food right before him, Luo Yun's hunger was completely ignited. He no longer cared whether he might provoke this beautiful and charming Female Fire Dragon. He had only one thought now: eat!
I'm freaking eating, eating, eating!!!
Watching the Hatchling Dragon tear into the meat in huge bites, the Female Fire Dragon's eyes revealed satisfaction. The way he ripped open the muscle and swallowed it whole made him look as if he had never eaten before.
Poor little fellow, how long had you been hungry?
Seeing Luo Yun immersed in swallowing, the Female Fire Dragon no longer hesitated. She viciously bit down on the Herbivore Dragon's thigh.
The Herbivore Dragon's belly was undoubtedly the tastiest part, but if one could bite through them, the thighs and back were not bad either.
Thus, this Herbivore Dragon was divided and eaten by the two Fire Dragons, one large and one small, one male and one female.
The Herbivore Dragon had plenty of meat. Just two thighs and a section of back were enough to fill the Female Fire Dragon. Watching Luo Yun continue to tear at the belly without stopping, she licked the blood from around her mouth, walked into the lake, washed her head and claws, then lay nearby and quietly watched him.
After quite a while, the section of exposed belly that she had torn open was nearly gone. When she saw Luo Yun trying to bite into the other parts that still had skin on them, the Female Fire Dragon immediately rose and came to his side.
Ignoring Luo Yun's struggle, she directly bit the back of his neck and lifted him up as though carrying a hatchling.
Luo Yun, engrossed in eating, was suddenly pulled away from the food. Instinctively, he began struggling, flapping his wings wildly and kicking with both claws as he tried to get back to the meal.
He had been terrified of hunger. Since crawling out of his shell, this was the only meal that had ever filled him up. Even though he truly felt a little stuffed now, he still wanted to keep eating.
The Female Fire Dragon did not indulge him. She applied a little force with the jaws holding the back of his neck and gave him two small shakes. Only after Luo Yun quieted down did she suddenly spread her wings and rise into the roaring wind.
After orienting herself, she flew toward her nest.
The fierce wind against his face finally brought Luo Yun back to his senses. Watching clouds sweep beneath his feet, he felt fear and joy in equal measure.
His joy perhaps came from the Male Fire Dragon genes. As a king of the skies, its flight ability went without saying. The air was the Male Fire Dragon's domain.
His fear came from the fact that he still could not fly. His skeleton and wing membranes could not yet support takeoff. People had often joked in his previous life about hunters who could not die from falling and monster hunters with osteoporosis. But this was reality. If he fell from this height, Luo Yun did not think he would survive.
With that in mind, he could only remain quietly held in the Female Fire Dragon's jaws and let her carry him to an unknown destination.
A Male Fire Dragon's vision was exceptionally sharp. Even from this altitude, he could still see the scenery below clearly.
He flew over a forest and crossed a river. As the dense forest beneath him gradually thinned and yellow sand began to drift through the air on the wind, they started descending.
On a cliff at the border between the Great Antlion Desert and the Ancient Forest, the Female Fire Dragon slowly descended with Luo Yun in her jaws.
There was a hidden cave here. A small stream ran through it, flowing from the Ancient Forest into the Great Antlion Desert. This was the nest the Female Fire Dragon had found after leaving her siblings and spending a great deal of time searching, now that she was capable of hunting alone.
In this region, creatures that could not fly could not reach it, while those that could fly were no match for her. Over time, the surrounding area became her territory. Aside from that idiotic Poisonous Bird that liked searching for Poison Mushrooms in the jungle above, few foolish dragons wandered around her territory.
The nest was roughly built into the cliff. Above it was the Ancient Forest, below it was the Great Antlion Desert, and beside it was a waterfall. Thus, a small stream connected to the waterfall ran through the nest.
