"Those... damn Greenskins!"
Mountbatten slammed into the ground, sliding across the stone paving of the plaza, blackened by war.
"How did they come up from underground?!"
He rolled over and fired at the nearest Ork, the towering ceiling spinning in his vision overhead.
A machine-gun round tore through the Ork's leg, and the axe-wielding creature roared as it fell.
Two soldiers lying in ambush nearby pounced on it, driving their bayonets into the Ork's back. But that still was not enough to kill the beast, so they finished it off with grenades.
Mountbatten scrambled to his feet as more bullets came whistling in from the far side of the plaza.
He tried to assess the enemy's strength, but amid the heaps of corpses, shell craters, and shattered marble strewn everywhere, he could not determine their numbers.
Between the chaotic university dormitories and the deathly silent church lay this plaza, packed with Orks. They were launching a savage charge, flooding toward the breach that had already been opened.
"Obviously, they have some tool or method we don't know about. There may be an entire Greenskin legion here."
Bronz spoke as he pulled his sword from a Greenskin's body.
"We charged straight into the middle of them."
"Then we'll charge straight back out."
Once he was back on his feet, he loaded a fresh magazine into his pistol.
The two hurried through the ruins and piles of corpses, vigilantly scanning the dark corners for any movement.
Bronz stayed close behind him, his gaze sweeping back and forth over chunks of brick and rubble, ready to cast at any moment.
Bullets sliced past them, and the sounds of battle echoing across the campus became ever more dreadful. War cries and thunderous explosions tore through the furious night.
"Get down!"
Bronz suddenly shouted as
