"Those Orks have circled around behind us!"
They were indeed clever, Hasimut thought with what remained of his sanity, but he gave no orders.
At that moment, soldiers carrying flamethrowers also appeared on the battlefield. To deal with the Orks' numerical tactics, the New California Republic army had equipped large numbers of flamethrowers, and Hasimut's forces had retained plenty as well.
The flamethrower troops gritted their teeth, and the flames in their hands roared at the enemy.
The Orks engulfed in fire began to burn, screaming and struggling as smoke rose from all across the battlefield.
Then Hasimut saw something else.
A
warboss.
Blood God above, that beast was huge!
It was a three-meter-tall beast made entirely of muscle. There was metal on its ears, one tooth jutted prominently from its lower jaw, and nearly its entire body was covered in thick armor. Familiar symbols could be seen on the mismatched armor plates—the national emblem of the New California Republic, the symbol of the Civic Temple, and the totem of the Blood-Worship Cult.
It was an unquestionable war machine, and the biggest, most damned Ork he had ever seen.
Its red eyes held a sharp, cunning gleam, and it fixed its gaze on Hasimut, clearly identifying the human commander at once.
Hasimut bared bloodstained teeth and roared:
"Die, blasphemer!"
Boundless fanaticism and hatred filled his body. Around him, the chaotic battle slowed into a fluid dance of blood and blades.
Out of the corner of his eye, Hasimut saw a soldier smash a brick into an Ork's face. The Ork staggered back several steps, shook its head, and grinned.
Then it punched the soldier's head apart.
Another drop of blood.
But Hasimut's attention remained fixed on their leader,
just as the other's attention remained fixed on him.
