Phew. After 680 days of writing, I had finally put an imperfect full stop to this book.
Here, I want to thank all the readers and fellow book lovers who gave Old Mo so much encouragement and support along the way. Whether you stayed with me until now or gave up somewhere along the way, Old Mo wants to say this to everyone—
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I was a beginner. Though web novels were nothing unfamiliar to me, this was my first time actually writing one myself. Back when I was only a reader, I would often think—
Damn, that's it? I could do this too! I'd definitely write better than this trashy author!
But once I actually started, I realized that plots and characters that seemed simple were incredibly difficult to put into words.
Just as the old saying goes—
"What one gains from books is always shallow; true understanding comes only through practice."
Without practice, one has no right to speak. From then on, Old Mo probably would never look down on any writer again.
Back to the point: writing this book was actually something of an accident. There was no long-term plan. It was only after I had written around a hundred thousand words and felt I could probably keep going that I came up with an outline. That led to some confusion in the plot, and that was one of Old Mo's mistakes.
As for the frequent shifts in perspective later on and the strange direction the plot took, that was also related to my gradually deepening understanding of Warhammer.
When I first started this book, I had only briefly dabbled in Warhammer 40,000. Back then, I thought Greenskins looked really cool, and all sorts of their settings were great too.
