Leading the guards to the shore, Guk could see the mountain of junk floating on the sea from afar. It looked even more battered than before, with large scorch marks from fire faintly visible.
When they spotted Guk, the Giant Tooth immediately lowered a boat. Gold Tooth was still aboard, as cautious as ever, but his ridiculous hat was gone, replaced by even more ridiculous white curls.
"What happened?"
Guk raised his chin, his eyes fixed on the battered Giant Tooth. He could tell it had been in a fight recently.
Gold Tooth glanced back at his ship and cursed bitterly.
"Got bitten by humans. Nearly didn't get away."
"Humans? They live on the water too?"
Gold Tooth shot him a look, seemingly surprised by his lack of common sense. Seeing that armor, he had assumed Guk knew humans well.
"Of course. Ever since the warships they killed started belching black smoke, they've been getting faster and faster. Don't know why."
"Did you bring the stuff?"
That was what Guk cared about most. He waved a hand, and the guards carried up ten huge crates packed with Ork teeth.
"Nearly got myself killed on this trip."
Greed gleamed in Gold Tooth's eyes. After rubbing his hands together, he pulled a flared gun from his belt and fired it into the air.
Whoosh~!
A green flare shrieked across the sky. Soon after, more than a dozen boats descended from the Giant Tooth, each loaded with cast metal ingots.
"Four hundred tons of wrought iron, one hundred tons of good steel. Consider it a favor."
While the boys helped move the cargo, Guk and Gold Tooth had their first close conversation. Though two boats still separated them, at least they could see each other's faces clearly, even if that was not particularly
