Everyone had invisible question marks hanging over their heads, but that was all. Thinking about it was not only meaningless but dangerous. The Secret Guard had their own reasons for appearing. Yushikin was only grateful that, at the final moment, he had been far enough from those foul Wizards to avoid being tainted by their evil aura.

The oppressive gaze from Cusconar put every officer on high alert. The battle to hold back the Greenskins still seemed to be going smoothly. They had brought down quite a few of the big ones, though they were still getting closer and closer to the trenches...

"Fall back to the corner!"

There was no longer much need for shooting. Yushikin led the remnants of his men toward the bend in the trench, where the 3rd Company was stationed. At a time like this, the more people there were, the safer it was.

"How are things?"

He nudged the commander of the 3rd Company with his elbow—the coward who had tried to flee at the very beginning. But now, under the Emperor's gaze, he had recovered some of his courage. Even if not for himself, he had to think of his family.

"Terrible. We might all have to—"

"They're here! Prepare to fight!"

Yushikin cut him off with a shout. Shadows instantly fell over them. A gigantic Ork actually stepped straight over their heads, charging directly for the parapet. Perhaps, in its eyes, things above ground were more interesting than things below it.

But some of them jumped into the trench as well. The soldiers trying to block them were effortlessly hurled aside the moment the Orks broke in, losing their lives and becoming cold, lifeless corpses.
