Oliver sighed, then piloted his mech over to the green giant cocoons rising from the hard orange earth. Those cocoons had birthed the terrifying beasts, and now he had to eliminate these remnants to prevent new Greenskins from being born after they left.
"Check whether there are any over there, Wiluna."
Duwa gave the order.
"When they come out to hunt, they usually form groups larger than the one we just saw."
"Yes, Captain."
Wiluna, the support pilot, replied. He started his mech and left the dead Greenskins behind, passing through the gaps between the towering linked fence posts surrounding the farm.
To inspect the open ground beyond a huge boulder, Wiluna guided his mech up the rocky slope.
It was no easy task to maneuver a war machine as massive as a mech across such uneven terrain. As a pilot himself, Oliver had to secretly admire his comrade's skill.
The Ranger mech rotated on the bearing at its waist, turning its upper body toward Oliver.
Though he could not see Duwa's face through the cockpit's red visor, he could still sense that stern, unwavering gaze from the soft light spilling through the gaps in the armor plates.
"Watch our rear. Don't let anything slip past."
Duwa ordered, his voice turning cold and hard once more, just like the mech beneath him.
"Otherwise, you'll answer to me."
"Yes, Captain."
Oliver replied.
"On it."
It was said that if a warrior stayed with his mech long enough, they would begin to display some of each other's personality traits.
Oliver had met most of the pilots currently in service. A brief conversation was enough to tell which mech they piloted.
For example, the pilots of those towering Titans were all arrogant, self-centered types.
They often showed contempt for the people around them.
