It had no emotions, only the purest primal instinct to devour everything and evolve everything. It was a superorganism composed of trillions of lifeforms, spanning the entire galaxy. To it, the war in the Octarius sector was merely a feeding.
It sensed it.
A colossal entity had arrived in Octarius. A new "invader," one beyond its calculations, had arrived.
The arrival of these reinforcements did not immediately ease the battle.
On the contrary, after the initial chaos, the Hive Mind's counterattack came swiftly and with terrifying precision.
In less than a microsecond, it assessed the threat level of this force and immediately drew the most suitable counter-units from its endless "arsenal."
The ground began to shake violently.
A group of monstrous creatures wielding enormous bone scythes, their bodies as large as Titans—Carnifexes and Hive Tyrants—pushed aside countless lesser kin from the rear of the swarm and stomped toward the steel-green tide charging madly ahead.
They were the Hive Fleet's heavy siege units, living artillery, moving fortresses. Their carapaces could withstand most heavy weapons. Their hammer-like claws and scythes could easily tear a Leman Russ tank in half.
"Boom!"
An Ork war vehicle charging at the front was overturned, vehicle and passengers alike, by a Hive Tyrant that suddenly burst from underground with its enormous claws! The Ork Boyz aboard did not even have time to scream before they were swallowed whole by the Hive Tyrant's meat-grinder maw along with the wreckage of steel.
Elsewhere, a frenzied Carnifex ignored the dense barrage of bullets flying at it and rammed its indestructible skull straight into a high-speed war vehicle.
"Clang—!"
With a deafening crash, the vehicle instantly became a pile of twisted scrap, like a toy struck by a locomotive.
