Chapter 233: 252. The Sky Was Changing
The room remained silent for a long time. Everyone seemed to be waiting for the results of the attribute test, though many of them had no idea why the test was being conducted.
But the attribute test took far longer than expected. Something that should have produced results in a minute had gone on for a full ten minutes, yet no one had emerged.
Gradually, murmurs rose through the room as people discussed what was happening. They could not understand why a simple attribute test had to be conducted separately, much less why it was taking so long.
Perhaps some people realized that something might have changed, but no one knew exactly what had happened.
A few more minutes passed before the female officer finally pushed open the door and returned. Her expression was exceptionally grim. She slowly swept her gaze across everyone present, then issued an unquestionable order. "Immediately screen everyone here. Every person must undergo an attribute test. Arrest anyone with anything suspicious about them."
The instant that order was given, a fresh wave of commotion rose through the room.
"Why?"
"Testing every one of these scavengers' attributes will consume considerable resources. I need a reason!"
"This could use up most of the extraordinary materials we brought. Are we really doing this?"
It was not that they doubted her. The order was simply too absurd. Not a single officer present could accept it without asking why.
"I have already submitted the reason to the higher-ups. Soon, someone from above will come to take over here. Now, carry out my orders immediately."
The female officer's sharp eyes swept over everyone in the room. She gave no explanation, but her words filled them with alarm.
