Lin Zizhen led Xu Zhi deep into the building. After turning several corners and passing through its interior, they arrived at a broad open-air area behind it.
Quite a bit of equipment had been set up in the area, though Xu Zhi could not tell what any of it was for. Lin Zizhen then led her into another building behind the main one.
"The main building is generally used by the logistics department. The other departments are in here," Lin Zizhen explained.
Xu Zhi noticed that most of the buildings here were white or light gray. Only one stood apart from the rest. It was pitch-black and only around four stories tall. Compared to the other buildings, not only was its color conspicuous, but so was its height.
"What place is that?" Xu Zhi asked, pointing at the building.
Lin Zizhen looked over, his tone even as he replied, "That's where the supervisory department is located. Some dangerous items are kept there, so its construction had to be somewhat special for practical reasons."
"Dangerous items?" Xu Zhi pressed.
Lin Zizhen remained calm. "Yes. For example, captured Aberrations are held there."
Wow.
"Are there Aberrations in there right now?"
Lin Zizhen nodded. "Would you like to take a look?"
According to their assumptions, Cloud City should have been teeming with Aberrations. Why did Xu Zhi seem so particularly interested in something so commonplace?
Did she want to know whether the outside world had made any progress in Aberration research?
Lin Zizhen considered the most reasonable explanation and found it highly likely. After all, Cloud City did not have the outside world's abundance of experimental resources and personnel. Even if they managed to capture an Aberration, they probably could not research much from it.
Moreover, Cloud City's environment was bound to produce
