After harvesting all the Kress Grass here, Duke burned the corpses on the ground as well, so as not to leave behind any hidden dangers.
These were basic precautions. A wizard's corpse could easily produce unusual energy reactions, especially the corpse of a formal wizard.
If the deceased had come into contact with necromantic or negative-energy items while alive, such changes were even more likely to occur.
Once a corpse underwent such an energy reaction, resentment and similar forces could very well give rise to curses targeting enemies.
Such curses were often troublesome, so it was best to avoid them whenever possible.
Duke recalled the map in his mind and said, "Next, should we head to the next fragment region?"
There was nothing particularly valuable left in this place, at least not for them. They still needed to visit other fragment regions to find high-value items.
"Yes. There happens to be a stable passage here, so we can use it," Merrick said.
There were two ways to travel between fragment regions. The first was to fly to another fragment region, while the second was to travel through existing passages.
The first method was rather dangerous, because while flying between fragment regions, they might be spotted by certain distant beings and mistaken for prey.
Though the possibility was low, they still had to guard against it.
The second method was relatively safer, because these passages had been established by the Wizard Council, and both their entrances and exits were comparatively safe areas.
However, that safety only referred to the areas themselves. If wizards were specifically lying in wait at the entrance or exit, they would face an attack the moment they emerged from the passage.
Both methods carried risks. Once inside the Void Corridor, there were no absolutely safe areas.
