Duke was not afraid of consuming too much magic power. He had prepared ample supplies for this trip; it would be nearly impossible for him to use up all these potions by himself in a short time.
For the next two days, he stayed in his potion shop, quietly grinding proficiency.
Two days later, an unexpected visitor came calling.
Todd, the chief alchemist of the City Lord's Manor, had somehow learned of Duke's return and hurried over as soon as he heard the news.
Standing at the entrance of Astral Embers, Mage Todd took several deep breaths before straightening his robe and trying to calm his excited emotions. Then he gently knocked on the door.
"Come in," Duke's voice called from within.
Todd did not look much different from a year ago, except that he seemed somewhat weary and anxious.
"Mr. Duke, I never expected to see you again. Your attainments in potion-making left a deep impression on me. Even now, I still cannot replicate the potions you brewed," Todd said with feeling.
He had previously purchased quite a few of Duke's potions. He had barely used any of them, saving them all for research.
Todd had indeed learned some things from them, but he still could not brew potions of such quality and purity.
However, he had not come today to seek guidance on potion-making. He had another purpose.
