Before Hokage Rock.
A group of shinobi were carrying out demolition work atop Hokage Rock.
Destroying was naturally easier than building.
But the faces of the Third Hokage, along with those of the Second and Fourth Hokage on either side, could only be removed slowly.
Of course, deliberately having the construction crews work slowly served other purposes as well.
For example, this was Konoha's first time tearing down Hokage Rock, and the area below was packed three layers deep, inside and out.
Most of them were villagers, watching chunks of Hokage Rock being hammered down one by one.
Everyone was talking at once.
"I used to think Hiruzen Sarutobi was a good man. I never expected him to have done so many terrible things."
"Pah! If it weren't for those people, Konoha would have been so much stronger."
