"Everyone, the Supreme God is here!" Barton stood on the spaceship's landing gear, unable to contain his excitement.
"The great Supreme God saved my life at the crucial moment this time. Otherwise, I probably would've been done for."
"And did you see the dragon beneath his feet? It burned that worm to ash with a single breath!"
Seeing Barton so worked up, the others knew he had faced the terror of life and death today and still hadn't calmed down, so they let him carry on.
Only after Barton had finished shouting and gesturing to get it all out did the others begin discussing things.
As the technician analyzed the pieces of the worm's corpse in his hands, he remarked:
"Since the Supreme God is here, that means he's ready to take this world. Our job is done."
"Right," the captain said. "Next comes the merger. Once the Supreme God swallows the world, we can go home."
The goblins exchanged looks and laughed.
Liz said, bobbing his head:
"Hey, we've spent a month here, and it's actually been pretty nice. Now that we're really leaving, I'm a little reluctant."
"Not a care in the world every day. Hunting, eating barbecue, living like barbarians. Life couldn't be better."
"Better?" Took glared at him. "You nearly got eaten by a worm just now."
"But we didn't, did we?" Liz muttered.
"All right, all right." The captain cut them off.
"Once the worlds have merged, nobody will stop you if you want to stay here. The rest of us are going home."
"Get everything packed up. Stow the instruments, pack the samples, and bring the maps. Once the merger is complete, we can pull out."
