Ch. 142My Friend's Sister

After Hisana’s death, Byakuya vowed to fulfill her final wish while resisting Shiba Kazuo’s growing threat. Kaien revealed that he had achieved Bankai and planned to kill Kazuo with help from Shiba Isshin and Byakuya, leaving Yato to consider how to protect Kaien’s children if the plan went wrong.

  • Byakuya mourned Hisana and told Yato he would fulfill her final wish himself, while vowing not to surrender the Sixth Division captaincy to Shiba Kazuo.
  • Yato found Shiba Isshin barred from the Kuchiki Estate, warned him to avoid Byakuya for now, and learned that Kaien wanted to meet him.
  • At the Shiba residence, Kaien told Yato and Miyako that he had achieved Bankai and intended to kill Shiba Kazuo after years of training.
  • Kaien explained that he and Isshin had sworn a blood oath and that he planned to persuade Byakuya to join them, citing Kazuo’s suspected murders of Sōjun Kuchiki, Ginrei Kuchiki, and Arima Shintaro.
  • Kaien and Miyako asked Yato to hide Kūkaku and Ganju in the Kamui Dimension if their plan failed, and Yato left troubled by the danger and Kazuo’s suspected crimes.
