The Hive Overlord's massive body had long since lost the ability to resist beneath Pandora's savage fists and kicks.
Its proud dark-purple psychic Gravis had shattered beyond recognition, like cheap pottery repeatedly smashed by a giant hammer.
Its enormous bone blades had snapped, its thick limbs twisted grotesquely, and sticky green ichor mixed with ruptured tissue fluids, forming a foul-smelling lake beneath it.
Its enormous head hung limply, the light in its compound eyes like a guttering candle in the wind, leaving only cold, instinctive pain and a trace of... logically confused bewilderment.
Pandora hovered above the Overlord's huge head, her tiny fists still smeared with chitin fragments and ichor.
Looking at the massive pile of twitching "rotten meat" below, a hint of boredom and disgust appeared on her delicate little face.
"Boring. I thought you could take a beating for longer." She curled her lips, seemingly dissatisfied that the game had ended so quickly.
At that moment, the remaining Tyranid swarm did not give up.
Like the most loyal and most insane soldiers, they ignored Pandora's terrifying presence and surged once more toward the area where the Overlord had fallen like a black tide!
But they did not intend to attack Pandora, nor did they intend to rescue the Overlord.
Squelch! Squelch!
A scalp-crawling sound rang out.
The Warriors, Raveners, and even some smaller Termagants at the front rushed to the Overlord's shattered body. Without hesitation, they drove their sharp limbs into its massive wounds, or simply opened their fang-filled maws and frantically gnawed at its flesh!
They were not feeding. They were offering themselves as "biomass," voluntarily merging into the Overlord's ruined body! Green flesh was torn apart, devoured, then fused back into the Overlord's wounds. The sight was bloody and bizarre.
More of the swarm, as though
