When Lin Chongshu carried Izumi's body bag out of the room, he sensed waves of presences rapidly approaching.
Root had barely withdrawn from the outskirts of the compound when the Third Hokage arrived with the Anbu.
Lin Chongshu found a high spot and looked over from afar. Hiruzen Sarutobi stood in the center of the Uchiha Compound, looking at the corpses strewn across the ground with an expression of grief, as though he had only just learned of the news.
Just like in the original story, Hiruzen Sarutobi mourned the Uchiha Clan for three minutes before flying into a rage and stripping Danzo of his position on the grounds of "acting without authorization and overstepping his authority to carry out a massacre."
Watching from afar with the body bag over his shoulder, Lin Chongshu suddenly felt that Danzo was rather foolish. He gave off the impression of someone scheming deeply, yet unable to figure anything out.
Though he had worked with Orochimaru, many of Orochimaru's actions were practically the equivalent of shitting on Danzo's head. And after Orochimaru was done, Danzo should not be in such a hurry to wipe it off, because the Third Hokage still had his turn.
After all that, Danzo still had to save face himself by shouting, "This is all for the Hidden Leaf Village."
When he returned to Root's detention room, dawn had already begun to break.
Lin Chongshu pushed open the door with a bag on his back, and Mikoto's gaze immediately fell upon his shoulder. "Is that Sasuke?"
"No, it's someone else from your Uchiha Clan." Lin Chongshu took Izumi out of the body bag and laid her flat on the bed beside them.
An unpleasant scorched smell spread through the detention room, and Mikoto instinctively wrinkled her nose.
"Then what about
