Background
By the World Martial Arts Tournament, Gohan had spent too long living comfortably and had declined substantially from his former strength. He operated as the masked Great Saiyaman and initially resisted exposing himself, but complied with Piccolo and Shin's request to transform before Kibito. The display exposed him as the “golden warrior” to Videl, his classmates, and the public. 12
His battle with Dabura exposed a major weakness: Gohan fought too directly, making his attacks easy to read. Although he was eager for a difficult fight, he was ultimately forced to withdraw, and Goku criticized his predictable approach. 19 22
Gohan later chose to train under Shin in the Supreme Kai Realm. Shin rehabilitated his weakened body, taught him to wield God Power, and trained him for three years inside a barren Small World. This training restored his lost strength and unlocked the potential that became his Divine Beast Form. 66 67 81 84
Appearance
Gohan's appearance changes sharply with his transformations. During the World Martial Arts Tournament, he concealed himself beneath Great Saiyaman attire; later, Shin provided him with an orange training outfit matching Goku's. 12 66
- Wore sunglasses and a headscarf while concealing his identity as Great Saiyaman. 12
- Wore green casual clothing before Shin transformed it into an orange training outfit. 66
- In his silver Ultimate state, his hair becomes silver-white, his eyes become crimson and beast-like, and divine lightning coils around him. 81 226
- His full transformation manifests a towering Great Ape phantom behind him. 81 126
Personality
Gohan is considerate and protective toward those close to him. He worries about Videl's condition, asks Krillin to watch over her, and promises her that Goku will return with medicine to restore her stamina. 11 He similarly places himself between danger and others, ordering Trunks to protect Bulma rather than join the fight against Black Broly. 126
In battle, he combines enthusiasm with confidence that can become arrogance. He eagerly sought Dabura as a challenging opponent, taunted Hit after deducing Time-Skip, and calmly provoked stronger enemies. 19 76 82 However, he is capable of self-reflection: after hesitating against a fake Goten and nearly being captured, he admitted his mistake and resolved not to repeat it. 106 107
Gohan also values fairness. He asked Shin to create Senzu Beans for Hit so they could fight again at full strength, even stating that he would make the same choice despite knowing Hit might kill him. 78 80
Abilities & Skills
Transformations
Gohan can access Super Saiyan 2 and his silver-haired Ultimate Form, also identified as the Divine Beast Form or Super Saiyan God Silver. His Ultimate Form is the product of Shin fully drawing out his latent potential. 12 81 226
- Super Saiyan 2 — Golden aura and blue electrical arcs; substantially increases his power against opponents such as Dabura. 12 22
- Ultimate Form — Silver aura and hair, crimson eyes, immense God Power, and a Great Ape phantom. Its released energy can shake barriers and distort surrounding space. 81 141 226
- Berserk state — Under sufficient strain, his raw power can overwhelm his judgment; Shin has had to restrain and calm him. 141 142
- Control limitation — Shin considers Gohan's mentality incomplete, preventing perfect control of Ultimate Form. 248
God Power
Gohan wields God Power as more than a simple physical enhancement, using it for recovery, sensing, defense, and manipulation of space. 69 75 142
- Heals severe injuries, including wounds that pierce his heart and chest. 75 76
- Neutralizes Vegeta's Destroyer God Power, though doing so drains his own energy. 142 143
- Can sense opponents through God Ki and track their positions during combat. 80
- Does not need to breathe and is unaffected by Magetta's heat and oxygen-depriving arena conditions. 73
- Can create constructs from God Power, including a full-length mirror for Cabba. 85
Spatial Manipulation
Gohan can attack or displace the space surrounding a target rather than striking the target directly. He used this technique against Botamo, whose body redirected direct attacks into another dimension. 69 70
- Displaced the space around Botamo and pushed him out of the tournament ring. 70
- Uses afterimages to evade attacks that would otherwise be fatal. 76 80
- Creates energy clones to deceive opponents and exploit their attack patterns. 225
Instant Transmission
Gohan learned Instant Transmission and used it to retrieve the unconscious Hit from space and return him to the arena. 83
Combat Analysis
Gohan learns rapidly during battle and uses observation to counter unfamiliar powers.
- Identified Botamo's dimensional defense after a single ineffective strike. 69
- Deduced that Hit's technique was Time-Skip and estimated its duration through their exchanges. 76 80
- Recognized the danger of direct, predictable fighting after Dabura repeatedly suppressed him. 22
- In Ultimate Form, his power is sufficient to negate the effects of Hir's Time-Skip simply through his presence. 226

- Son Goku — Father and frequent sparring partner. Goku takes pride in Gohan surpassing him, though he also reprimands Gohan when he fights carelessly. 11 81 106 141
- Piccolo — Mentor figure whom Gohan calls “Uncle Piccolo.” Gohan respects his instructions and is deeply distressed when Moro possesses Piccolo's body. 12 247

- Vegeta — Senior Saiyan whom Gohan calls “Uncle Vegeta.” Their relationship is competitive; Vegeta criticizes Gohan's weaknesses but recognizes his strength, and they spar intensely. 19 142 143
- Videl — Close companion who trusts Gohan even when he cannot explain the extraordinary events around them. 11 12
- Son Goten — Younger brother. Gohan's inability to attack a fake Goten nearly costs him the fight, while Goten later urges him to finish Gotenks despite the danger to himself. 106 108
- Cabba — Student and respectful ally from Universe 6. Gohan teaches Cabba to become a Super Saiyan, leading Cabba to call him “Master Gohan.” 85 168
- Hit — Rival from Universe 6. Their battles are intense but marked by mutual respect, particularly after Gohan heals Hit for a fair rematch. 78 80 168
- Broly — Fellow Supreme Kai Realm trainee. Shin compares Gohan's progress and future barrier to Broly's path toward true godhood. 138
