Background

By the World Martial Arts Tournament, Gohan had spent too long living comfortably and had declined substantially from his former strength. He operated as the masked Great Saiyaman and initially resisted exposing himself, but complied with Piccolo and Shin's request to transform before Kibito. The display exposed him as the “golden warrior” to Videl, his classmates, and the public. 12

His battle with Dabura exposed a major weakness: Gohan fought too directly, making his attacks easy to read. Although he was eager for a difficult fight, he was ultimately forced to withdraw, and Goku criticized his predictable approach. 19 22

Gohan later chose to train under Shin in the Supreme Kai Realm. Shin rehabilitated his weakened body, taught him to wield God Power, and trained him for three years inside a barren Small World. In battle, he combines enthusiasm with confidence that can become arrogance.
