Feiyun trusted him? Not a chance. Judging by the man's appearance, he was probably planning to resell them at a high price or put them up for auction. He would definitely make a hefty profit.
But Feiyun did not mind. That was perfectly normal. Without profit, who would work for anyone else?
Feiyun continued to ask calmly, "What about Two-Tomoe and Three-Tomoe?"
At those words, the skinny-faced man's squinting eyes opened considerably wider.
"You have high-grade goods like that? I got them by luck during a mission. Just name your price. If it's too low, I'll find someone else."
"Don't, Brother Wu Ming. We hit it off right away!"
"Rest assured, I absolutely won't cheat you. I'll offer 9 million ryo for Two-Tomoe and 15 million for Three-Tomoe."
The skinny-faced man rubbed his hands continuously and said enthusiastically, "Don't worry. I'd never cheat my own friend. You won't find a better price anywhere else."
The price genuinely startled Feiyun. Even Asuma, an elite jonin, had a bounty of only 35 million ryo. A pair of Sharingan was nearly worth one Asuma!
Yet Feiyun did not show his surprise. He said flatly, "Two One-Tomoe pairs and two Three-Tomoe pairs, 50 million ryo altogether. If that won't do, forget it. I'll ask at other Bounty Exchanges."
After saying that, Feiyun turned and headed for the exit again.
In his previous life, he had been a nobody, so bargaining was something Feiyun knew inside out. That squinty-eyed fellow would definitely call him back just as he reached the door.
Yet he had barely turned around when Que Ni's cheerful voice sounded behind him. "Fine, deal. Consider it my way of making a friend out of you, Brother Wu Ming. Hahaha!" Feiyun turned back and eyed the excited squinty-eyed man suspiciously. Damn it, I got played. I still asked for too little!
But Feiyun did not dwell on it. During Clan Massacre Night, he had collected quite a lot of Sharingan. Four pairs of eyes were only a small portion of them.
Feiyun readily took out two culture dishes containing two pairs of Sharingan: one One-Tomoe pair and one Three-Tomoe pair. He could not tell what distinguished the owners of these eyes, but they had all been instantly killed by Uchiha Itachi anyway.
Que Ni happily accepted the samples and jogged toward the secret room in the back.
"Brother Wu Ming, please wait a moment. I need to verify their authenticity. It's a necessary procedure, and absolutely not because I distrust you."
After saying that, Que Ni slipped into the secret room.
Feiyun did not stop him, but he quietly remained on guard.
The Bounty Exchange was a black market. How could the people here possibly be decent folk? They were certainly capable of killing for goods. Fifty million ryo was no small temptation, enough to make most people take desperate risks.
However, Feiyun had clearly underestimated the Bounty Exchange's integrity.
More than ten minutes later, Que Ni walked out smiling, carrying a large suitcase in his hand. The goods were genuine.
"Brother Wu Ming, you're quite capable to get your hands on something like this. Truly, young heroes are to be feared!"
"Haha, not at all. My companions are the impressive ones. He's waiting for me outside."
Feiyun answered with a smile. He was still somewhat worried that the Bounty Exchange might kill him and seize the goods as Que Ni walked over and handed him the suitcase.
"Brother Wu Ming, count it. There are 50 million ryo in banknotes."
Feiyun took the suitcase and smiled. "No need. Would I not trust you, brother?"
A shrewd golden gleam flashed through Que Ni's squinting eyes. Someone capable of, and daring enough to do, this sort of thing could not possibly be simple.
It was essential to maintain a good relationship with him. Even aside from asking him to do anything, merely having someone with his abilities would make future business much easier.
"Haha, good. From now on, we're friends."
"Brother Wu Ming, if you need anything, feel free to come find me."
Feiyun nodded, then suddenly said, "I actually do have something I need your help with, Brother Que Ni."
Que Ni answered readily.
"Why call it help?"
"Just say the word, Brother Wu Ming."
Feiyun continued, "I want to take on some bounty missions, and I also want to place bounties on some people. But I have very little intelligence here. Does your Bounty Exchange have any?"
"That's easy. We specialize in providing bounty hunters with intelligence on bounty targets. As for placing bounties on others, as long as you have money, that's enough."
As he spoke, Que Ni turned and walked toward another secret room.
"Brother Wu Ming, come with me. This is not a place to talk."
"Alright."
The two arrived before a thick wall. As Que Ni formed hand seals with both hands, a barrier door opened.
Though it was an underground facility, it was not dark at all. The lighting was excellent.
When the two staff members saw them enter, they bowed to Que Ni and then left.
Que Ni walked to a desk and sat down, pointing at the chair opposite him.
"Brother Wu Ming, have a seat."
Feiyun adjusted the brim of his hat and settled steadily into the chair.
"Which area's bounty missions are you looking for, Brother Wu Ming? Or will any place do?"
Que Ni put on a pair of glasses and picked up a stack of documents. "Konoha, then. The Sarutobi Clan. Their family is rich and powerful, so losing a few people should not be a problem."
Feiyun said this after pretending to think it over.
Que Ni was not surprised. He merely nodded and pulled out a stack of paper intelligence reports from the files. "Brother Wu Ming, choose for yourself."
