Chen Xun had also learned most kinds of wilderness survival skills. Though he was no master, he knew them all.
Moo~~
Big Blackie anxiously looked toward the farmland. He had plowed it through untold hardship.
"It's fine. We'll find another fertile field later, one several times bigger than this!"
"Moo! Moo!"
Big Blackie nodded wildly. Chen Xun began painting a grand vision, leaving Big Blackie utterly dazzled.
"However, our great vengeance remains unavenged. That would be no way for gentlemen to behave."
Chen Xun sprang to his feet, spinning the Mountain-Splitting Axe several times in his hand. "I imagine those people are already in their twilight years. Old Bull, strike while they're sick and take their lives—bring back our rice!"
Moo!!
The ground shook and gravel flew. Big Blackie was furious. His horns had only grown out a little, and who knew how many years it would take to recover? Even the village's Little Heifers hardly paid him any attention anymore.
Inside the cave, they packed up in a flurry. Things like the suona were indispensable for traveling the world, so they loaded everything onto Black Ox.
With their current strength, lifting pots, bowls, and utensils was as easy as playing around. Whatever they truly could not take, they left for Little Blackie's family, including that fertile field.
The next day, outside Little Blackie's home, the blacksmith's home, the carpenter's home, and the homes of all those who had helped Chen Xun, piles of rice had appeared by their doors. Their eyes lit up with wild joy as they sighed that Azure Heaven truly had eyes.
Little Blackie's wife was still counting the goods, her mouth stretched into a delighted grin. There was actually such a good thing in the world?
Inside the house, Little Blackie had reached middle age and gained a measure of maturity. He picked up a letter. Chen Xun had taught him to read before, so he naturally understood it.
"Little Blackie, that fertile field outside the cave is entrusted to your family. Be sure to take good care of Big Blackie."
"Once I leave, we may never meet again in this life. The world is dazzling and vast; one must go out and see it. Remember to always keep an optimistic heart. Signed, your forever carefree Xun Bro."
Little Blackie read it word by word, his eyes misting over slightly. Ever since childhood, he had run after Xun Bro, and in his heart, he had long treated him as an elder brother.
Memories flowed through his mind one after another—the stolen rice, the burned thatched hut, being driven out whenever they worked in the village, and so on. Their days had been bleak, yet Xun Bro always seemed to hold a passion for life.
"Xun Bro, may the wind be at your back."
Little Blackie smiled warmly and looked out the window. The sky stretched clear for ten thousand miles today. It was a fine day to set out.
Three months later, outside the neighboring village, inside a dirt pit.
One man and one bull were weather-beaten, their robes covered in dust. Chen Xun held a flatbread in his hand, took a savage bite, then passed it to Black Ox for a bite.
"Just as expected, we've already thoroughly scouted this neighboring village. We'll start with Old Wang's family."
A sharp glint flashed in Chen Xun's eyes. What he lacked least was patience and time. The Wang Family's ancestral graves, their fields, and every person from their family who had beaten them—he had investigated them all, one by one.
"Old Bull, move!"
Chen Xun pulled on a bandit's hood, leaving only two eyes, a nose, and a mouth exposed. He had also prepared a full set of gear for Big Blackie.
On a dark and windy night, one man and one bull stood atop an earthen slope. The gale swept past them, but they remained utterly still, every inch the ferocious bandits.
They headed up the mountain. Moonlight spilled down as eerie winds curled through the air. Grave after grave stood grim and chilling, but compared to the grievances they had suffered, what did this amount to?
"Tomb of Wang Defa."
A bright gleam flashed through Chen Xun's eyes. This was the one. He growled, "Old Bull, dig!"
Moo!
Big Blackie trembled with excitement and let out a roar. Wind seemed to rise beneath his hooves as he dug madly. Chen Xun kicked the tombstone to pieces with one foot, shouting in exhilaration as countless clods of yellow earth flew away and the coffin emerged.
They flipped it open at once, revealing a skeleton. Man and bull immediately ran for it, vanishing in a puff of dust.
In the Wang Family's fields, Big Blackie plowed like mad, soil flying everywhere as he continuously vented his rage. Chen Xun's eyelids twitched as he watched. This Old Bull held grudges even more fiercely than he did.
The entire field was a total wreck, no longer resembling itself. Chen Xun and Big Blackie gazed at their masterpiece in satisfaction, feeling immensely refreshed.
The next day, Chen Xun led Black Ox charging into Old Wang's home.
"Who goes there?!"
An old man past fifty leaned on a cane and cried out in alarm. This man had his head wrapped in cloth, looking utterly terrifying.
"I'm your long-lost father!"
Chen Xun roared. He recognized the man at once—Wang Tianming. Back then, this was the one who had beaten him the worst.
Chen Xun lashed out with a kick, instantly snapping his cane.
He stepped forward, carefully controlling his strength, and slapped him across the face. The few teeth he had left were knocked straight out.
"Spare me, hero! Spare me!"
Wang Tianming spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva. He had run into bandits!
"More than twenty years ago, you led people to steal our rice. Today, I've come to collect that debt!"
"What?!"
Wang Tianming was stunned. Twenty years ago—he had nearly forgotten about it. Then he looked at the Black Ox outside the door and suddenly remembered something.
Moo!
A Big Yellow dog happened to pass by the Wang Family's home. Black Bull Charge! The dog was sent flying by the gore, crashed into the ground with a miserable yelp, and hurriedly fled.
Chen Xun had no intention of sparing the Wang Family. He shook their eggs until even the yolks were mixed, and used the Mountain-Splitting Axe to chop every earthworm on the ground into eight pieces.
Wang Tianming sat on the ground, weeping and screaming as he hurriedly called for help.
"Father! Where did this villain come from?!"
"Bold bastard! You dare come to the Wang Family and commit violence!"
Shouts and angry rebukes came from outside. Countless young and strong men rushed in carrying hoes and kitchen knives.
"Old Bull, retreat!"
Chen Xun shouted. Man and bull vaulted over the wall and fled, with Chen Xun even giving the bull's rear a push.
"Don't run, little thief!"
"If you've got the guts, stop and fight us one-on-one!"
"Don't let us catch you, you cowardly rats! Damn you!"
Quite a few villagers had been stirred up. Hundreds of people chased after them in a mighty procession, dust billowing as they clutched weapons in their hands.
"Hahaha—hey, you can't catch us."
Chen Xun laughed as he looked back, fleeing wildly with Black Ox. Seeing the dust cloud behind them, his eyes were filled with disdain. "Is that all you've got?!!"
Roar!
Roar!
This was bullying beyond all reason! Countless men let out low growls, quickened their pace, and pursued them frantically. Yet no matter what they did, they could not catch up and could only watch helplessly as the pair ran farther and farther away.
The most ridiculous part was that even a Black Ox could run faster than them!
Moo! Moo!
A heaven-shaking fart burst forth. Big Blackie seemed to have been holding it in for days. The stench was overwhelming, bringing a suffocating sensation. Chen Xun's face twisted as though he had eaten shit.
"Ah! It stinks!"
"Damn it!!"
Blech!
The pursuing villagers went limp all over, bracing themselves against the ground with both hands as they retched without end. Their eyes were filled with disbelief. There was actually a fart this foul in the world?
Wang Tianming rushed over from behind, beside himself with rage. If he had been twenty years younger, he would have sliced this man into a thousand pieces!
"Old Wang, your family's ancestral graves have been dug up! Even the coffin lids were pried open!"
"What?!"
"Old Wang, hurry back and look at your family's fields! It looks like pigs rooted through them!"
"What?!"
Hearing the voices from behind him, Wang Tianming felt the world spin around him and fainted on the spot.
Meanwhile, one man and one bull had already gone far away, their figures nowhere to be seen. They left behind a legend of vicious bandits in that village.
