As Mohist considered Zhong Xiaozheng's reasons for coming, the other man had already walked over, removed his gloves, and begun washing his hands.

The hands beneath the gloves were pale and shriveled. In some places, the skin had even been peeled away, revealing faded muscle and nerves underneath.

The two stood silently before the sink, neither saying a word as they rinsed their hands.

The only sound was water rushing against the basin. Four hands moved beneath the taps, painstakingly scrubbing as if determined to clean every trace of grime from the cracks.

A full five minutes later, Zhong Xiaozheng finally turned off the tap, his gaze lingering on Mohist's hands.

Under his stare, Mohist felt his palms grow hot. That scrutinizing gaze was immensely heavy, heavy enough to weigh down his heart as well.

Several more minutes passed before Zhong Xiaozheng withdrew his gaze and left without saying a word.

After pausing for a moment, Mohist also left the restroom and continued touring the prison under Xu Long's guidance.

His purpose had already been achieved, so the rest was dull and meaningless. Besides, everything about the prison was concealed by Xu Long, that feminine man, and he could not make out anything now.

Still, he continued brooding anxiously, yet did not dare look too much at Zhong Xiaozheng. Even after the tour ended and they returned to the prison entrance, the knot in his heart remained unresolved.

Just before they got into the car to return to the hotel, Xu Long called out to him and Zhong Xiaozheng.
