Background / History
Kana Shizumi was originally a seventeen-year-old native of Kumamoto City. He awakens in the world of jujutsu with knowledge of its future plot and finds himself under the control of Kenjaku, Mahito, Jogo, and Hanami. Kenjaku identifies him as a stable experimental “prototype,” noting that he inherited Kamo bloodline and abilities diluted by ordinary-human lineage. Kana accepts the role of Kenjaku's “son” to survive while privately seeking a way to escape Kenjaku's control. 1
Mahito uses Idle Transfiguration to alter Kana's appearance to resemble his previous life. Soon afterward, Kenjaku sends him with Hanami to recover Sukuna's Fingers in Kyoto, treating the dangerous assignment as a high-pressure growth experiment. 2 3
During the Kyoto operation, Kana studies Crimson Blood Manipulation, survives a violent fight with Mai Zenin, and develops techniques including Blood Armor, Flowing Red Scale, and Crimson Qilin Leap. Kenjaku later reveals that Kana's weak initial state was deliberately restricted and directs him to Rokudo Chinnō-ji Temple, where the first of six custom cursed objects awaits him. 12 15
Kana fuses with the Sky-Covering Jade, which embeds itself in his heart. He concludes that Kenjaku modified his inherited technique so that his blood can activate and integrate the Six Paths Tsuji Cursed Objects. He subsequently trains under Kenjaku in Barrier Technique and uses a modified Curtain to infiltrate the Kamo Clan's Cursed Vault. 18 22
While acting independently in Kyoto, Kana intercepts a Sukuna finger and approaches Kokichi Muta before Mahito can recruit him. He offers Kokichi a chance to regain his body, defeats his mechanical puppets, and brings him into contact with Kenjaku and Mahito. 23 28
Kana later finds and fuses with the Abyss-Severing Blade in Sendai, then acquires the Bone Cage Ring through Jogo. The successive integrations deepen his connection to the Six Paths Tsuji and expand his combat options. 34 35 64 66
Although he operates beside Kenjaku and the Cursed Spirits, Kana intends to defect once he has enough strength to affect major events himself. He carefully avoids altering foundational plot points too early, believing that preserving certain events is necessary for his own survival. 33 75
Personality
Kana is cautious, analytical, and intensely survival-oriented. He constantly measures risks against his knowledge of future events, preferring indirect interference and preparation over reckless changes to the plot. He monitors Kenjaku's behavior for weaknesses in their surveillance and control of him. 3 32 43
He is highly adaptive in combat, quickly testing unfamiliar techniques and adjusting them under pressure. However, he can be dismissive of weaker opponents and openly acknowledges cowardice when facing opponents far beyond his level, such as Mei Mei or Satoru Gojo. 4 28 78
Despite presenting himself as a villain, Kana hesitates when faced with killing incapacitated enemies and is willing to negotiate with or assist others when it benefits them both. His offer to help Kokichi Muta and his decision to spare Mei Mei and Ui Ui reflect this conflicted morality. 24 25 83
Abilities & Skills
Modified Crimson Blood Manipulation
Kana's inherited Innate Technique allows him to extract, manipulate, compress, and weaponize blood. Its “Modified” nature appears connected to Kenjaku's alterations and enables the activation of Six Paths Tsuji Cursed Objects through blood. 1 18
- Can form blood spheres from his fingertips and convert blood into ranged attacks. 4
- Blood Arrows can approach conventional-firearm power; compressed shots can match an automatic rifle's destructive force within roughly one hundred meters. 5 13
- Uses blood drawn through wounds more efficiently than blood expelled through other means. 4
- Can create internal blood protection to reduce penetrating and organ damage from gunfire. 12
- His half-human, half-Cursed Spirit constitution makes otherwise dangerous blood-based applications more survivable. 12 62
Blood Armor
Kana condenses blood into a crystalline defensive layer over his body or limbs. It is his fastest-forming Crimson Blood Manipulation application. 12
- Deflects bullets and mitigates heavy physical attacks. 12 80
- Can be concentrated around his hands as Blood Armor: Double-Hand Covering, allowing him to destroy reinforced mechanical puppets with a single punch. 26
- Cannot fully negate sustained or superior attacks; Naoya's cursed dagger cracks the armor. 105
Flowing Red Scale and Physical Enhancement
Kana uses blood-flow control and cursed energy to enhance his speed, reactions, and physical combat ability. 13 27
- Flowing Red Scale grants a major physical boost but imposes significant cursed-energy and physical strain. 13 28
- A lower-output blood-flow control method improves his physical ability by roughly one-fifth without consuming cursed energy. 27
- Crimson Phosphorus Surge further heightens his speed and reaction time against Naoya's Projection Sorcery. 104
- Crimson Qilin Leap is recognized by Kenjaku after Kana's battle with Mai. 14
Supernova
Kana learned and refined Choso's Supernova, detonating prepared blood spheres over a wide area. 27
- Uses explosions to disrupt enemy formations and break restraints. 27
- Can saturate the blood with cursed energy for a much stronger area-of-effect version. 82
- His enhanced Supernova defeats Mei Mei and incapacitates Ui Ui, but consumes nearly eighty percent of his cursed energy. 82
Convergence and Piercing Blood
Kana studies blood compression to improve his long-range offense. 18 56
- Can imitate Convergence by producing multiple compressed blood orbs when a single highly compressed orb is beyond his capacity. 56
- Seeks to use Piercing Blood, but initially lacks the output and control to use Convergence reliably. 18 60
- Later tests Piercing Blood against a Cursed Spirit and recognizes its limitations against non-human targets. 102
Advanced Barrier Technique
Trained directly by Kenjaku, Kana has developed Curtains, concealment barriers, and Simple Domain-based applications. 20 22 51
- Can modify a Curtain into a close-fitting barrier that conceals his appearance, cursed energy, and physical presence. 22
- According to Kenjaku's assessment, even Special Grade opponents may struggle to detect him beyond ten meters while the concealment barrier is active. 22
- Can evade surveillance and most barriers within the Kamo Clan's Cursed Vault. 22
- His current Barrier Technique is competent but not top-tier; he can independently construct barriers and add personal modifications. 29
- Continues training toward a personal Domain Expansion, but has not yet demonstrated one. 74 88
Six Karmic Obstruction Samadhis
Kana possesses an artificial Shikigami technique connected to Kenjaku's research. 93 99
- Uses Kundali Mudra to summon Shikigami. 105
- Successfully summons Co-Born Garuda, a Special Grade Shikigami. 96
- The technique's other Shikigami remain difficult to assess. 96
Cursed Objects
- Sky-Covering Jade — First Six Paths Tsuji Cursed Object; embedded in Kana's heart. Provides +5 Total Cursed Energy and enables flight, though sustained hovering requires concentration. 18 19
- Abyss-Severing Blade — Second Six Paths Tsuji Cursed Object; fuses into Kana's left shoulder. Blood extracted through it becomes darker and more toxic, while blade-like fragments can mix into an opponent's blood and inflict internal damage. 34 35
- Bone Cage Ring — Third Six Paths Tsuji Cursed Object. Grants +5 Cursed Energy Efficiency and lets Kana perceive cursed-energy flow through a mist-like visual effect; the perception is imprecise and temporarily impairs normal sight. 65 66
- Sukuna's Finger — Stolen from the Kamo Clan's Cursed Vault. Kana keeps it as a potential means of influencing future events. 23
Relationships
- Kenjaku — Creator, manipulative “father,” employer, and Barrier Technique instructor. Kenjaku restricts and monitors Kana while cultivating him as an experimental work; Kana plans to sever ties when he becomes strong enough. 1 15 20 75
- Hanami — Ally and frequent mission partner. Hanami protects Kana during the Kyoto mission, rescues him from Mai, supplies medicine and clothing, and shows concern for his well-being. 7 14 15
- Mahito — Allied Cursed Spirit whose Idle Transfiguration restores Kana's prior appearance. Kana finds Mahito unsettling but values his healing ability and works with him on Cursed Object matters. 2 61 88
- Kokichi Muta — Kana recruits Kokichi by offering a way to restore his body, then defeats his puppets to force a negotiation. 24 28
- Yuji Itadori — Acquaintance in Sendai. Kana befriends Yuji through pachinko and shared family concerns while also viewing Yuji's condition as a key marker for the plot's beginning. 68 70 99
- Mai Zenin — Initial hostile opponent. Their Kyoto battle forces Kana to develop Blood Armor, internal defense, and Flowing Red Scale; Mai survives Hanami's intervention. 12 14
- Mei Mei and Ui Ui — Pursuers and opponents. Kana attempts to bribe and deceive them, then defeats Mei Mei with an enhanced Supernova before Gojo intervenes. 78 83
- Satoru Gojo — Overwhelming adversary whose arrival saves Mei Mei and Ui Ui. Kana survives the encounter but recognizes the extreme difference in their strength. 83 86 88
- Naoya Zenin — Enemy combatant whose Projection Sorcery overwhelms Kana's defense and forces him to reveal further techniques, including Kundali Mudra. 104 105
