Background / History

Kenjaku's Heian-era records state that she helped Sukuna turn his remains into Cursed Objects and divide his soul, enabling his existence to continue through the fingers. Sukuna had reportedly spent more than thirty years becoming invincible before adopting this method. 92

The resulting twenty fingers were scattered and conventionally sealed. Their extreme cursed-energy concentration attracts Cursed Spirits; any spirit that consumes one is considered at least Special Grade. 3 7

Kenjaku's faction began recovering the fingers before the main plot. Hanami successfully returned a sealed finger to Kenjaku, while Kana Shizumi later stole Sukuna's pinky finger from the Kamo Lineage's Cursed Vault before surrendering it to Kenjaku. 16 23 29

Malevolent Shrine

Sukuna's innate technique, Malevolent Shrine, is portrayed as devastating largely because of Sukuna's overwhelming reserves, cursed-energy efficiency, output, and attack frequency rather than exceptional efficiency in the technique itself. 71

Soul Division Through Cursed Fingers

Sukuna is repeatedly treated as a level beyond ordinary sorcerers. Kenjaku explicitly states that she cannot reach his level herself. 42

• Kenjaku — Kenjaku helped Sukuna create his Cursed Objects and divide his soul during the Heian era; she later gathers and safeguards his fingers as part of her plans against Gojo. 71 92
• Yuji Itadori — Yuji is Sukuna's vessel. His body was prepared by Kenjaku to contain Sukuna, and he can acquire Malevolent Shrine through Sukuna's presence within him. 33 70
• Kana Shizumi / Unblemished — Kana recovered one of Sukuna's fingers but later handed it to Kenjaku. When offered a finger to consume, Kana refused because Sukuna's soul could potentially possess him. 23 29 70 71

Finger Recovery

Sukuna's fingers are central targets for Kenjaku and the Four Calamities. Their recovery is treated as urgent preparation for the coming conflict, while the fingers' ability to empower Cursed Spirits makes each retrieval dangerous. 3 7

Countermeasure Against Gojo

Kenjaku keeps Sukuna's fingers as a backup against Satoru Gojo. Sukuna's intended value lies in being one of the few forces capable of opposing Gojo if Kenjaku's primary plans fail. 1 71

Altered Unlimited Void Encounter

Kana's early involvement causes Gojo to use Unlimited Void against Jogo and Kana rather than demonstrating it before Yuji. Because Sukuna remains inside Yuji, he loses the opportunity to observe the Domain firsthand and does not gain detailed intelligence about it. 86

Kenjaku's Impersonation

Kenjaku later disguises herself as Sukuna during a visit to Yuji Itadori and Wasuke Itadori. Yuji experiences an unexplained sense of familiarity toward the disguise, while Wasuke warns him to stay away from her. 69
