Ch. 41Blood Explosion Technique
Key plot points and events
- Ye An and Zhang Lexuan confront Yu Tianqi, an Evil Soul Master whose four soul rings enhance his already monstrous physique. He reveals that he separated from the Heavenly Dragon Sect’s group to kill them quickly and return.
- Yu Tianqi charges Ye An, and the two clash at close range. Ye An disrupts Yu’s soul-power circulation with his Bone Vein Seal, but Yu keeps attacking recklessly.
- Zhang Lexuan binds Yu with chains from her newly acquired Starmoon Illusory Wings. Ye An wounds him with his bone saber, then switches to his self-created Myriad Bone Tremor technique.
- Yu activates his fifth soul skill, Blood Explosion Technique, causing the blood in his chest wound to detonate. Zhang Lexuan pulls Ye An clear; Ye An shields them both with bones, while Jin Peng and Yu Bo arrive and absorb the blast’s force.
- The explosion injures Yu badly as well. Ye An and Zhang Lexuan escape serious harm, and Jin Peng and Yu Bo check on them.
Character developments and interactions
- Ye An demonstrates confidence and skill in close combat, combining his body enhancement, bone abilities, and quick judgment. He is also forced to recognize how unusually durable Yu is and how dangerous the fight has become.
- Zhang Lexuan proves crucial as a tactical partner: she restrains Yu, then notices the danger of his blood-based attack and pulls Ye An away in time.
- Yu Tianqi is revealed as both physically formidable and recklessly violent. His apparent cultivation discipline masks a predatory method of growing stronger through killing and devouring others; his final technique also harms him severely.
- Jin Peng and Yu Bo arrive at the decisive moment and protect Ye An and Zhang Lexuan from the explosion, showing their vigilance and concern for the young sect leader.
Significant themes
- Power gained through cruelty: Yu’s strength comes from consuming others, contrasting sharply with legitimate cultivation.
- Teamwork and trust: Zhang Lexuan’s timely intervention and the protectors’ arrival prevent a potentially fatal outcome.
- Strength has a cost: Yu’s Blood Explosion Technique devastates the area but wounds its user, while Ye An’s confidence is tempered by a close brush with danger.
