A cultivation method was not something one could simply pick up and practice. First, one had to understand the principles within it—why this method of cultivation had been created—and then make fine adjustments according to one's own physical condition.

With the overall framework unchanged, one had to constantly adjust one's cultivation method based on one's feedback and sensations. For example, after performing the same set of punches, some people might strengthen their tendons and bones more, while others might strengthen their flesh and skin more.

Then adjustments were needed. If one felt that the flesh and skin had not been trained enough, one had to alter the fist technique and hold the movements that trained the flesh and skin for longer.

Such adjustments had to be tailored to the individual. Unless an extraordinarily experienced expert saw one's problem at a glance and gave direct guidance, even one's own cultivation would have to be adjusted bit by bit.
