Background / History

Lu Shan grew up in an isolated mountain dwelling, living by hunting and gathering with his father. After his father died, Lu Shan buried him himself and continued supporting himself and Chubby Girl by selling excess meat and pelts to Green Mountain Village. 632

When he decided to leave the mountains, Lu Shan deliberately acted slow-witted and simple-minded before Village Chief Zhang Qing. He used spirit-beast meat to secure help registering his household, but remained alert throughout the journey, mapping escape routes and recognizing that demons had infiltrated Falling Flower City’s government offices and wealthy households. 635 636

He settled near the city’s martial halls because demons avoided them. After selling a spirit beast’s hide and flesh, he joined Black Tiger Martial Hall, mastered Black Tiger Fist with unprecedented speed, and became Qin Biao’s personal disciple. 636 637

Lu Shan’s clash with the fox demons became a turning point. After foxes desecrated his father’s grave, his concealed malice surfaced; during the ensuing battle, Chubby Girl first transformed into armor and enabled him to kill the Fox Demon. 639 642 He later created the Tiger Demon Body-Tempering Art during recovery, prompting Qin Biao to protect him from authorities and wealthy families seeking to seize him over the armor. 643 644

His priorities are narrow. He may assist colleagues when doing so costs him little, but he will not risk his life to avenge acquaintances or rescue others without practical reason. Chubby Girl is the exception: she is described as the sole warmth in an otherwise emotionally frozen heart. 638 659
