Why, when it was clearly an exchange following the principle of Equivalent Exchange, was it still called Yang Mu's filial devotion?

Because it was not as though Yang Mu had no other resources in his hands. But to an Eighth Order powerhouse, such resources made little difference whether they had them or not. It was like offering ten or twenty thousand to a billionaire in exchange for their guidance.

Whether they had it or not did not matter to them. They could earn a little on the side when they had nothing better to do, and they would not mind making some extra money, but fundamentally, it would do almost nothing to improve them.
