At night, Kingpin was sleeping in bed when his phone rang and woke him up.

As a distinguished member of high society!

One phone simply wasn't enough to match Kingpin's status!

He had three phones.

One for work, one for private use, and one for emergencies.

The one ringing at this hour was undoubtedly the emergency phone.

Getting up, Kingpin walked out of the bedroom in his pajamas before answering it.

He didn't want to wake his lover.

The call connected, but the person who should have spoken remained silent for a long time.

"Wes, is that you?"

Before answering, Kingpin had seen that the incoming number belonged to Wesley.

Wesley wouldn't do this.

Something had happened to him.

Kingpin didn't analyze it too deeply. Based on instinct and speculation alone, he had roughly guessed the outcome.

He needed to notify his men and head to Wesley's safe house immediately!

Others didn't know where Wesley's safe house was, but Kingpin naturally did. Wesley had personally invited him over as a guest, though Kingpin hadn't gone. Even so, he knew about the place.

Just as he was about to hang up, turn around, get dressed, and leave, a voice came through the phone.

"Here's Johnny!"

Kingpin immediately raised the phone back to his ear and quickened his pace toward the door.

Someone was talking to him, which meant they most likely wanted something. That meant Wesley was probably still alive!

His top priority now was to stall for time!

"I'm Kingpin. If nothing unexpected has happened, you came specifically looking for me, didn't you?"

Kingpin knew perfectly well that, in most cases, any problem involving "the entire company" ultimately became his problem.

Wesley's line of work didn't make it easy to offend people like this. Without question, Wesley was merely a bargaining chip to force him to show himself.

"I'll tell you what your final fate will be first." Wilson Fisk never accepted threats!

"I will find you. Yes, I will find you! It won't be too fast, and it won't be too slow. You will spend every second of the rest of your life in fear!"

"Everyone you see will be my eyes! Your family! Your friends! They will all betray you!"

"Because they fear me!"

"Run, bastard! Run into some rat hole deep in the mountains!"

"I'll personally drag you out of that hole! Smash your mouth to pieces! Burn every inch of skin on your body! Then hang your blackened, shattered skull in front of Wes's tombstone!"

"Do you hear me?! If you kill Wes, this will be your fate!"

Kingpin gave Leon some systematic, friendly advice in a low, hoarse voice.

With one hand, he wrote down an address and handed it to a guard who had just arrived after hearing his voice. His huge hand gripped the man's head and yanked him close.

"Give this to Bullseye," Kingpin whispered. "He'll know what to do."

Releasing the trembling underling, Kingpin waved a hand. "Go!"

Then the phone he had been holding all along made another sound.

"Oh! So you're also a fortune-teller!"

That voice carried a distinct note of delight.

"Then could you help me find the underwear I lost last week?"

The voice turned serious again. "Honestly, I really liked that pair of underwear. It was my zodiac year, you know!"

Kingpin restrained himself from crushing the phone.

What he wanted to crush even more was that guy's head!

That voice sounded again.

"So... take a guess~ Guess whether Wesley is dead, or dead, or dead!"

A creaking sound rang out.

Kingpin felt like he was about to lose control.

"Hehehe... You'd better not have any family or friends. Otherwise, you'll regret ever having friends! Having family!"

At first, Kingpin could still keep himself from roaring too loudly, but he became less and less able to restrain himself. By the last few words, he finally shouted.

Normally, whenever this happened, Wesley would wait until Kingpin's anger had subsided before coming out with a topic or a question.

Kingpin would tacitly let that burst of rage pass, and the two understood each other without needing words.

But now, the person who could make him control himself, constantly remind him to stay clear-headed, and make him remember his great dreams and ambitions was the very person trapped and captured.

"Hehehehehe, it was just a little joke~ Mm. He's not dead yet. But I guarantee you won't see him again. He'll die. He'll die alone."

"He'll die in his own home, and you... you will witness that moment. Surprised?"

Crack...

That fragile phone was finally crushed in Kingpin's hand.

"The car is downstairs, and Mr. Bullseye is already on the way," a quick-witted man stepped forward to report.

Kingpin gave him a cold glance without saying anything. The small-time leader hurriedly lowered his head and retreated. Kingpin silently returned to his room to change.

Several small-time leaders heard Kingpin speaking softly inside, offering words of comfort in a gentle tone. It was a tenderness they never could have imagined coming from Kingpin's mouth.

They kept their eyes on their noses and their noses on their hearts, wishing they had never grown ears.

Soon, Kingpin emerged in a suit. Without a word, he passed through the crowd and took the lead. Everyone hurried after him as they filed out behind Kingpin.

Leon lowered his head and looked at the phone. The busy tone sounded again and again through the silent room.

"Mr. Wesley, your employer doesn't seem to care much about your life! It seems you've overestimated yourself."

Wesley had cried until he was barely recognizable. All he could do was mutter, "Please..."

He knew in his heart that he was doomed today.

But even ants struggled to survive. How many people could calmly face death, especially when they still had their youth ahead of them and so much money?

At first, Leon had truly considered how to keep someone like Wesley from dying too quickly. He had thought Wesley should pay such a price for what he had done!

But looking at him now, Leon no longer had that inclination. He was just a broken record that knew only how to beg. Mentally, he had already collapsed.

At that moment, Leon didn't want his life anymore. He even rather hoped Wesley would live to a hundred!

"Mm, infertile and childless, yet blessed with a houseful of descendants! That's the idea! Then you..."

Whoosh!!

Something flew toward him. Leon's current physical strength had significantly enhanced his five senses as well.

He nimbly ducked down.

It was a... nail!

Bullseye had arrived.

Before Leon could think any further, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh echoed without end.

The window glass was shattered. Anyone unaware of what was happening might have thought someone outside was spraying the place with a machine gun!

Leon casually yanked Wesley in front of himself as a shield. The thud-thud sounds turned into puff-puff sounds.

When the barrage finally stopped, Leon looked down again and found Wesley thoroughly dead.

Compared to Wesley's current state, three cuts and six holes would have been nothing.

Between the front and back, there were at least twenty holes in him!

Leon casually tossed the already-cold Wesley aside and shouted outside, "Who threw firecrackers?! Mr. Wesley and I were having tea!"

"Fuck! Mr. Wesley? Mr. Wesley!!"

"Which damned bastard threw foreign nails and stabbed Mr. Wesley to death?!"

Outside the house, there was complete silence.

P.S. I went back to my grandparents' home in the countryside to clean up their house, change light bulbs, and make dumplings. There are all kinds of chores, and I still have to visit relatives from house to house. I'll do my best to keep updating these next few days.
