After a friendly exchange with eight students, Leon's teaching officially began.
"You all know a little about me, right? You probably knew what you were here for before you came, so I won't explain too much. Let's get started!"
After saying that, Leon turned and wrote the three characters "Crane School" on the blackboard.
Chinese characters.
He explained the Crane School's history, then wrote the three characters "Turtle School" beside it.
"This school was originally from the same master's lineage as ours, but there were some little incidents along the way. That was all the previous generation's business, though. In my generation, we get along pretty well with the Turtle School."
Leon spun the tale as soon as he opened his mouth, making it sound completely real.
After introducing their three-eyed grand martial uncle, their mathematically challenged psychic junior martial uncle, and the excessively powerful Dog Kong along with his family's explosive-energy fighters, Leon put on a serious expression. "If you can't learn it, there's nothing I can do. Anyway, from now on, you're the third-generation successors of the Crane School. When you roam the world in the future, don't disgrace the Crane School!"
"I've said my piece. Who agrees? Who objects?"
Naturally, no one objected.
After spouting a bunch of nonsense, Leon told everyone to grow a potted flower and experience "life growing, breath unceasing." Then he willfully declared class dismissed.
As for the Transformation Spell course, they could talk about that next class!
A group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents looked at one another, then actually began discussing the day's lesson like students after the teacher left.
Just as Leon was about to go home, his phone rang.
He pulled out his phone with a surprised expression. Not for any other reason, but because he had only had this phone for a day or two. At present, Coulson was the only person who knew this number.
Maybe Fury knew it too...
"Sawasdee kap, moshi moshi!"
As he answered the phone, Leon wondered why Coulson was calling him just after he had left S.H.I.E.L.D.'s safe house.
Had they discovered that he didn't actually have a teaching certificate?
"...Doctor Lister... there's something I'm afraid I have to tell you. Please remain calm."
On the other end of the line, Coulson did not laugh along with Leon's joking around. Instead, he fell silent for a moment before speaking in a low tone.
Leon immediately dropped his playful tone, his mind racing.
"Tell me."
Fifteen minutes later, Leon and Coulson stood side by side beside the door of a S.H.I.E.L.D.-issued Chevrolet, looking at the blazing fire before them.
The old house Leon had rented was burning fiercely.
The firelight reflected off Coulson's face, making the veteran S.H.I.E.L.D. field agent squint.
Beside him, Leon wore a mask and tilted his head up, watching his home burn to ashes before his eyes.
"Was there anything special in the house? If there were magic books or anything like that, we can find someone to salvage them."
Looking at Leon, who had not said a word, Coulson felt terrible as well.
The last time Leon slaughtered Kingpin's gang, the kid had been firing guns and blasting away in broad daylight. By the time S.H.I.E.L.D. sealed off the scene, the news could no longer be contained. Yet that bastard had simply waved his sleeve and left without taking a single cloud with him.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. field agents cleaning up the scene had practically vomited their guts out...
Although he was still technically a S.H.I.E.L.D. partner, Coulson truly did not want to keep cleaning up after Leon when he kept massacring people and filling entire hospitals with casualties.
For a moment, Coulson had even grumbled inwardly, If you're going to do it, at least dispose of the bodies!
This kind of devil-may-care attitude made things very difficult for him! Boss!
But this was such a formidable guy. Even when he did not provoke anyone, people had still come to wipe out his entire household—and someone had actually gone insane enough to burn down his house!
Had they filled up their family register and decided to start a new one?!
Who knew how big a mess this would cause...
Fortunately, there had been no casualties!
Still, seeing Leon silently looking up, Coulson regretted not sending more field agents to monitor the place.
At the very least, they could have put out the fire sooner!
Hearing Coulson's question, Leon shook his head. He was the sort of person who only used his house as a place to sleep. He spent less than two waking hours there every day, and his belongings all had special effects anyway. How could he possibly leave them in the house?
If only the system storage space were bigger. Then Leon would not even need to go home.
When he had arrived earlier, the scene had already been sealed off. Coulson had immediately told him there had been no casualties, but Leon was naturally still angry.
Very angry.
The landlord's old rundown place was finished. Without question, Leon should compensate him for it. After all, they had come seeking revenge on him.
After telling Coulson that he intended to compensate the landlord, the two discussed it and reached an agreement.
S.H.I.E.L.D. would step in and hand over the compensation under some random pretext. Naturally, Leon would pay the money.
Poor Leon. S.H.I.E.L.D. had not even transferred the money for hiring him to rescue Tony Stark yet, and it was already being spent.
Once the process had been settled, Leon looked at the house that had burned to nothing, then turned to Coulson and said without concealment, "You caught the person who set the fire, didn't you? Hand him over to me."
Coulson opened his mouth several times as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he said nothing. There was no way to talk him out of this. When someone was rushing headlong toward death, no one could stop them.
Coulson dragged a strangely dressed man in red out of a car. "There were two of them. The other one is already dead. This one was just anesthetized... He's yours."
After saying that, he patted Leon on the shoulder and turned to get into the car. Just as he was about to close the door, Coulson turned back and added, "Keep it clean. I don't want to clean up after you again."
Leon laughed loudly. "Don't worry! I guarantee it'll be spotless!"
With that, he picked up the unconscious man on the ground and flew away.
He was so fast that he seemed somewhat impatient.
Coulson looked up in the direction Leon had gone, sighed, closed the car door, and left.
In a forest far from the city.
Faint firelight flickered through the cover of the trees.
Beside the bonfire, a strange man in a black trench coat was...
Grilling another strange man dressed in red!
"Come on~ I'm begging you, okay~"
After bringing over more branches, Leon tossed them into the fire as he said, "I really don't know how to interrogate people! If you won't talk, all I can do is roast you. I've healed you three times already in such a short while. Aren't you afraid of being allergic to toothpaste? Keeping the aura active all the time is annoying too!"
The man in red finally could not take it anymore. After cursing wildly in a language Leon could not understand, Leon only knew that it was Japanese.
After he finished cursing, the red-clad man dressed like a ninja cried and shouted in English, "Why the fuck don't you ask?! You came up and built a fire under my crotch! My mouth was gagged—couldn't you see that?!"
Leon tossed another branch into the fire and said apologetically, "Sorry... I was afraid you'd be cold... so..."
The red-clad ninja continued his tearful accusation.
"If you don't understand Japanese, you should've said so! I fucking confessed twice already!"
Leon looked even more apologetic. "I thought you were all professional people who would rather die than submit, so I assumed you were definitely cursing me... How was I supposed to know professionals like you couldn't take a beating either!"
Was that even a beating?!
Was that a beating?!
After stomping out the fire, Leon stood up and looked seriously at the still-sobbing red-clad ninja. "Who did you say sent you to burn down my house?"
After hearing the red-clad ninja's answer, Leon nodded, sat back down, and lit the fire again.
"Oh, don't misunderstand. This time, I'm the one who's cold." Then Leon asked suspiciously, "In the movies I watched, the information they give at times like this is always fake. It's to provoke the protagonist into fighting some other random guy, then let the fisherman profit while the snipe and clam fight..."
He pushed the fire a little closer to the red-clad ninja. "You're not lying to me, are you?"
It would be more accurate to roast him a few more times!
The man's wailing rang out through the dense forest once more.
"B-Brother—!"
"I really didn't lie to you!"
"Really—!!"
