"Auntie!"
Kushina Uzumaki pushed open the Senju Clan's front gate. Despite having spent the whole day at school, she was still brimming with energy.
Because she had slept through the entire day of class.
Mirai Uzumaki trailed behind her listlessly.
Mirai had wanted to sleep in class too, but he had sensed someone watching him from the shadows. Anbu? Or Root?
He had kept using the Mind's Eye of the Kagura to sense them, leaving him a little dizzy and muddled.
After the God Tree had been planted, it had not given him any substantial boost, but it had awakened his Uzumaki Clan talents to their ancestral state. Any ability of the Uzumaki Clan came to him with ease.
The only thing he lacked was chakra volume.
His seven-year-old body was still developing. Extracting chakra too early would do more harm than good.
Seeing the people in the courtyard, Mirai gave a casual, "Yo," as a greeting.
"Ha, Kushina, Mirai, how are you finding school?"
A young man sprang out, with a long-haired man following behind him.
"It's Nawaki!" Kushina greeted him with a smile.
She had a fiery temper outside, but at home, she was gentle and soft-spoken instead.
Kushina valued her family dearly.
Mirai Uzumaki turned his gaze toward them as well.
Hmm! Nawaki, just some chuunibyou brat.
And behind him was—his eyes narrowed. Orochimaru!
At this point, Uncle Snake still had light in his heart. A faint smile rested on his face, without a trace of coldness.
"Watch your manners, brat!"
Bang—
"Ow!"
Pain shot through Mirai's head. Tsunade had somehow appeared behind him and delivered a vicious knuckle to his skull!
Tsunade, remember this. Today's pain will be repaid tenfold someday!
Even ten times would be too few!
Tsunade had no idea that the little brother in her eyes was already harboring wicked thoughts about her. She merely pouted and complained—
"Do you know that handling your tiny, bullshit problems today made me miss the best time to go to the casino?"
"That made me lose so much money, and when we finally meet, you brat don't even greet me properly. That's really rude!"
Mirai Uzumaki glanced at Tsunade's heaving chest as she fumed, then rubbed his head.
"Hey, Sister Tsunade, don't you lose money every time anyway? It has nothing to do with whether you missed the best time or not, okay?"
"What? You little brat..." Tsunade could not take it anymore, and anger made her chest ache.
She rolled up her sleeves, ready to have a one-on-one PK with Mirai Uzumaki.
Kushina was startled. Tsunade's monstrous strength was not something Mirai could withstand.
She hurriedly stepped forward to stop her. "Wait a minute! Sister Tsunade, Mirai didn't mean it."
Mirai Uzumaki shook his head. This woman might have a top-tier figure and looks, but her temper really was explosive!
Still, admitting defeat was out of the question.
"If you've got guts, don't use your fists. Let's settle this at the gambling table! Dare?"
Competing with Tsunade in gambling? Wasn't that a guaranteed win?
"Bring it on. You think I'm scared of a brat like you?"
Before long, a gambling table had been set up in the courtyard.
Nawaki leaned close to Orochimaru and asked in a low voice, "Teacher Orochimaru, who's better, Mirai or my sister?"
Orochimaru leaned against a corridor pillar with interest, his snake-like gaze falling on the two figures competing at the gambling table. The corners of his lips curled slightly. "Your sister's luck at gambling... don't you know it yourself?"
Nawaki scratched his head and gave a foolish laugh. "Right."
On the other side, Mito Uzumaki held a cup of warm tea as she sat in a rocking chair beneath the veranda. Her kindly gaze passed over the courtyard, watching Tsunade roll up her sleeves and compete with a seven-year-old child. She could not suppress the smile on her lips.
"So alike... far too alike." She murmured to herself.
Sunlight spilled across the courtyard, and a breeze brushed the loose strands of hair before her forehead.
She recalled many years ago, when Konoha had just been founded, and Hashirama had shouted every day that he would "conquer the Five Great Nations with a gambling table."
Whenever he lost money, he would squat in a corner and draw circles. Then the next day, he would eagerly drag Tobirama to the casino again.
"Big Brother, that's the Hokage's salary, not gambling money!" The young Tobirama had been so angry that his face turned green.
"Tobirama, men need hobbies!"
"You have too many hobbies!"
Mito chuckled softly and lifted her teacup for a sip.
Those arguments, laughter, and lively warmth from back then had all scattered into the wind.
"Grandma?" Kushina noticed Mito's smile. "What are you smiling about?"
"Nothing," Mito said, lovingly stroking Kushina's red hair. "I just feel that... this home has finally become lively again."
Hearing that, Nawaki turned around and flashed a wide grin. "Don't worry, Grandma! Our family will become more and more lively in the future! Once I become Hokage—"
"You should pass the Chunin Exams first." Orochimaru casually drove the knife in.
"Teacher Orochimaru!"
Nawaki's bristling expression made Mito laugh again.
At the gambling table, the stage was set.
"Come on, come on! The rules are simple!" Mirai Uzumaki stood with his hands on his hips, looking like an old gambling addict. "Kushina shakes the dice, and you and I guess whether it's high or low.
Three dice. Ten or below is low, eleven or above is high. Best three out of five. How about it?"
Tsunade narrowed her eyes and stared at him suspiciously. "That simple?"
"That simple. As for the stakes, the loser gives the winner massages for a month. Dare?"
"Hah, what gambling game hasn't your Sister Tsunade seen? Bring it on!" Tsunade plopped down, slapped the table boldly, and said, "Kushina, shake them!"
Kushina excitedly picked up the Dice Cup, the three dice inside clattering loudly.
Her little face tightened as she gave it several convincing shakes, then slammed it onto the table with a smack.
"First round! Bets are final!"
Tsunade narrowed her eyes at the Dice Cup, tapping the table twice with her fingers.
She had roamed casinos for years. Though she often lost, she believed she had some skill at listening to dice.
That sound just now... low and heavy. It should be high.
"High!" Tsunade slapped the table.
Mirai Uzumaki did not hesitate at all. "Then I'll take low."
What a joke. Whenever you gamble, bet the opposite of Tsunade and you'll be living in a seaside villa!
Kushina lifted the Dice Cup—one, three, five. Nine points.
Low.
"Mirai won." Kushina's eyes lit up.
Tsunade's mouth twitched. "...It's only the first round. Luck."
For the second round, Kushina shook the cup again and set it down.
Tsunade pricked up her ears and listened carefully, her brows tightly furrowed.
This time, the sound was crisper than last round... so it should be low?
"...Low!" She chose low.
Mirai remained expressionless. "Then I'll take high."
He continued going all in without thinking. Beating Tsunade was simply too easy.
Kushina lifted the cup—four, five, six. Fifteen points.
High.
Tsunade's face began turning green, and Kushina gave Sister Tsunade a pitiful look as well.
"Continue!" Tsunade shouted through gritted teeth.
For the third round, Kushina shook the cup even harder than before, the dice bouncing and clattering inside.
