"It seems you were thoroughly prepared. Qin Si is one of yours?" Xue Chen pressed down on the painful spot. Though drenched in sweat, he did not let out a single groan. "Come out. Even if you want me dead, at least let me know the process of my death."

"Sister Qian, Brother Hao, Mr... Mr. Xue." At that moment, another tall man entered from outside the villa. Guilt covered his face, and he did not dare meet Xue Chen's eyes.

"Heh, all the ungrateful wolves are here. Good! Oh, right—Second Uncle, Little Aunt, and Eldest Aunt, do you really still need to hide?" Xue Chen sneered. Slowly supporting himself against the chair beside him, he rose to his feet, then casually sat down in a dining chair.

No sooner had he spoken than four or five people filed in from outside. They were all faces Xue Chen knew well—faces he had always believed were closest to him. Now, every one of them looked at him eagerly. "Hao, is this little bastard really about to die?"

"With that dose of poison, he can hold out for fifteen minutes at most. There's no one here but us now. His two best bodyguards went back to their hometowns two days ago, and I gave all the maids two days off. Now he can cry to heaven and earth, and neither will answer him." Liu Qianqian grinned viciously.

"You truly are my wonderful family. So money... really is a good thing." Xue Chen sneered, his face growing ever paler.

"You little bastard, don't get too smug! If you want to blame someone, blame yourself. You're just like your damned parents. You clearly have a fortune worth several billion, yet you only gave us a few tens of millions and thought you could dismiss us like that?" Xue Chen's little aunt, Xue Qing, roared. "If that's the case, we might as well divide it up ourselves."

"Xiaochen, your little aunt is right. You have so much money—why can't you give us a little more? Listen to your aunt and hand over all those things of yours." Xue Chen's eldest aunt, Xue Pan, avoided his gaze. Though she did not curse at him, the greed in her eyes was completely undisguised.

"Exactly, Xiaochen. You can't follow in your parents' footsteps. I heard you invested a billion in that project south of the city, but you never put the project contract into the company. Why not give it to me? You're going to die anyway. You won't be able to spend any of this down there." Another middle-aged man stepped forward, wearing an expression as though he had only Xue Chen's best interests at heart.

Xue Chen gave a feeble smile. "Second Uncle, after freeloading off me for so many years... did you eat so much that your brain went bad? I, Jade-Faced Fox Xue Chen... am I really so easy to plot against?"

"Not good!" Qin Si caught sight of Xue Chen's right hand hidden beneath the table and lightly pressed the wall beside him. A foul odor suddenly filled his nostrils. Just as he was about to stop it, it was already too late. The doors and windows around them automatically shut and locked.

"Hahaha... I'll be waiting... in hell..." After saying that, Xue Chen spat out another mouthful of blood. Then, with a victorious smile on his face, he sank into darkness.

Early the next morning, a single news story dominated all of S City: Xue Chen, the head of Dawn International, had died of gas poisoning at home. His other immediate family members had fallen unconscious. The maids who returned the following day discovered them, then called the police and an ambulance.

What was even more astonishing was that, aside from some real estate left to his daughter Xue Ling, all the rest of his estate was donated to the state.

Jade-Faced Fox Xue Chen, a man admired by everyone in the business world, had actually left this world in such a manner, leaving countless people sighing in regret.

But they did not know that Xue Chen might change history in another way...

"Little Aunt?" As Xue Chen drifted in and out of consciousness, he sensed someone rummaging through things beside him. The instant he opened his eyes, he saw a face he utterly despised. When Xue Qing met his gaze, panic flashed across her face. "Xiaochen... you're awake?"

Xue Chen said nothing. He noticed that the face before him was vastly different from the one in his memories. It was at least twenty years younger. "Little Aunt, what are you doing in my room?"

Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted the calendar hanging on the wall, and his pupils suddenly contracted. October 3, 1985—the fourth day after his parents' car accident. He remembered that day. He had just placed his parents' urns in their graves, and when he returned, he had fainted.

Seeing that he was awake, Xue Qing placed the clothes she had folded into the wardrobe. She concealed the calculation in her eyes and put on a sorrowful expression. "I brought in the clothes from the balcony for you, Xiaochen. I know you're heartbroken because your parents are gone, but you mustn't do anything foolish. Otherwise, even your parents in the afterlife would not rest in peace."

Xue Chen sneered inwardly, but his face remained calm. He quietly listened to her lecture, then put on an expression that said she was right. "Little Aunt, if my parents knew you treated me so well, they would definitely come to you in dreams to thank you." Then, as if realizing he had said something wrong, he added, "Sorry, Little Aunt, I..."

Xue Qing froze. Then, as though she had thought of something, she glanced around the room and forced out an ugly smile. "It's fine, Xiaochen. Your parents are already gone, so don't..."

Xue Chen shook his head, looking as though he understood everything. "Don't worry. I think my parents will definitely remember how well you treated me, and I believe they will certainly support me too."

Knock, knock! A sudden knock sounded from outside the door, followed by a man's voice. "Xue Qing, is Xiaochen awake yet?"

Xue Qing was startled. Seeing Xue Chen watching her, she immediately resumed her gentle, loving facade. "I-Is that so? Um... your Second Uncle is outside. I'll go see him first." Without waiting for Xue Chen to respond, she flung open the door and hurried out, as though ghosts were chasing her. The instant she shut the door, she inexplicably looked back and found those hollow, pitch-black eyes staring at her, sending a chill through her heart.

After hearing the door click shut, Xue Chen swiftly climbed out of bed, went over, and locked it from the inside. Once that was done, he pushed aside his bookshelf, revealing a cabinet behind it. Everything inside had been hidden there by his parents.
