As Cen Muxiao's words fell, the half-open private room door was violently kicked open. All four people inside, including Song Anning, could not help but shudder.
Guo Lantai grumbled inwardly, That damned domineering CEO aura! Breaking public property and scaring people too. Sure enough, throwing his weight around comes at a price.
He steadied himself and looked toward the door. Cen Muxiao's tall figure blocked the entrance, with another man standing behind him, hands in his pockets and a strange smirk on his face as he eyed them sideways.
Guo Lantai frowned. The man looked familiar. Then he remembered—wasn't this the skull head from the elevator when he had been bored?
He had not expected him to be one of Cen Muxiao's people. No wonder Song Anning had managed to find him here. So someone had tipped him off.
"Muxiao, why are you here?"
Song Anning instantly pulled himself together and looked at him with a face full of pleasant surprise.
He looked like someone who had been bullied by a gang of thugs, only to suddenly encounter his savior.
"You hadn't come back for a while, so I came out to look for you. How did you end up here?"
As he spoke, he swept his gaze across the private room. Though the lighting was dim, he could see clearly enough. Aside from Song Anning, there were only three people in total.
Heh. Guo Lantai really did not seem to have many friends. He could not even gather enough people for a game of mahjong when staging a scene.
"Uh, I got a call from my mother and was upset about it. I got distracted and entered the wrong room. Isn't that a coincidence? I never expected to run into Mr. Guo."
Song Anning had already prepared his explanation. He had accidentally overheard Song Yuan mentioning Guo Lantai and concluded that he had definitely come to stir up trouble.
Tonight was supposed to be his stage. He truly could not stand by and let Guo Lantai show off in front of these people and steal his thunder, so he had decided to come over early and take a look.
He had to find a way to make Guo Lantai leave on his own. If that failed, he could find an excuse to force him into making the first mistake. Then, even if things reached Cen Muxiao, Guo Lantai would be the only one embarrassed!
He had been quietly congratulating himself on arriving at just the right time. Guo Lantai had been hugging and tugging at the person inside. In an environment like this, with just a little distortion, it could be interpreted very differently.
If Guo Lantai was afraid Cen Muxiao would overthink it and wanted to leave a good impression on him, he would naturally flee in fear.
But if he stubbornly refused to leave and insisted on finding an opportunity to perform in front of Cen Muxiao, Song Anning would not mind taking the lead and dragging him over to expose his shameful private meeting with another man.
Not only would that make Cen Muxiao dislike Guo Lantai even more, it would also make all their friends distance themselves from and despise him, never giving him another chance to fit in.
As for Guo Lantai's friend, Song Anning had seen him at the wedding. He had come up and snatched away his violin, so he was obviously on Guo Lantai's side.
Song Anning could tell at a glance that he was an impulsive person. If he could not take the provocation and struck Song Anning, that would be a huge help!
He could say that Guo Lantai had ordered the man to hit him, all to vent his anger and retaliate against Song Anning for suddenly showing up!
A perfect excuse!
Yet, to his surprise, the man had indeed been successfully provoked, but Guo Lantai remained incredibly calm. Not only was he not particularly enraged, he had even stopped the man from acting at the crucial moment.
And Cen Muxiao had arrived just then!
It would have been a great opportunity to make Cen Muxiao explode, but Guo Lantai had perfectly ruined it by stopping him!
Damn it!
After hearing him out, Cen Muxiao shifted his gaze to Guo Lantai, who stood in front of Yu Tu, and snorted. "It may not be much of a coincidence that he's here."
Guo Lantai understood immediately. Cen Muxiao was implying that he had deliberately followed them to Golden Pavilion to cause trouble.
Heh. He could actually shift Song Anning's so-called coincidence onto him. In Cen Muxiao's eyes, everything he did was calculated and premeditated.
Before he could refute him, the domineering CEO's gaze shifted to Yu Tu behind him, his tone icy. "Why don't you first explain how the young master of the Yu family plans to teach my friend a lesson?"
Yu Tu was still somewhat intimidated by Cen Muxiao, but after a few drinks, his courage had grown. Pointing at Song Anning, he cursed, "He's shameless! Forget publicly ruining your wedding—tonight, he showed up uninvited, came in and started lying through his teeth, and practically begged for a beating. Tell me, isn't he cheap? Doesn't he need a proper lesson?"
Song Anning hurriedly argued, "Muxiao, I didn't! They disliked me the moment they saw me. I merely pointed out that Mr. Guo was behaving improperly with him, and they started mocking me. They even wanted to hit me. Good thing you came in time, or I might have..."
"Heh!"
Before Song Anning could finish, Guo Lantai gave a soft laugh. Looking at him, he asked, "Improper behavior? You were reminding us? Are you sure you weren't deliberately distorting the facts and stirring up trouble?"
"I distorted them? Weren't you hugging him and fooling around happily?" Song Anning shot back, aggressive and unyielding.
Cen Muxiao could not help frowning at that. No matter how unwilling he was to be associated with Guo Lantai, the title of Mrs. Cen had genuinely been placed on him for the time being.
He let Guo Lantai make a fool of himself, but that did not mean he would tolerate him doing things that damaged his reputation. Improper behavior was one such taboo.
And hugging, too!
"Guo Lantai, I really underestimated you!"
"Sir believes him?"
"Of course. I heard Anning's words about considering my feelings and protecting my reputation."
Cen Muxiao had happened to hear Song Anning's final words outside the door. At the time, he had nearly been moved to tears. So Song Anning cared about him this much.
Since Song Anning had suffered such a grievance for his sake, Cen Muxiao naturally had to come out and vent his anger for him, restoring his dignity!
With that thought, he stepped forward, ready to grab Yu Tu by the collar. What kind of man was Yu Tu, acting tough just moments ago only to hide behind Guo Lantai now?
Unexpectedly, Guo Lantai stepped forward as well. Standing face-to-face with him, he asked, "What are you planning to do, Mr. Cen?"
"Teach him a lesson!"
"Then have you ever heard of getting slapped in the face?"
Cen Muxiao instinctively sensed there was more to his words. "What do you mean?"
Guo Lantai let out a relaxed breath. "It's fine if you haven't. Today, I'll let both of you experience what it means to get slapped in the face twice over!"
Cen Muxiao said, "Just say what you mean. Are you saying I wronged you?"
Guo Lantai had been waiting for those words. "Exactly. Mr. Cen, everything needs evidence, and everything has a cause. Whether he was sowing discord and deliberately twisting the facts, I can prove it."
Song Anning's heart skipped a beat, though his face was full of disbelief. "The witnesses are all your own people. They don't count."
There were no cameras in private rooms like this.
Guo Lantai ignored him and looked only at Cen Muxiao. "Let's make this clear first. If you believed slander and wronged me, what then?"
Seeing how confident he was, Cen Muxiao could not help glancing at Song Anning. What was with that evasive look in his eyes, as if he did not dare meet Cen Muxiao's gaze?
Still, at this point, there seemed to be no room for Song Anning to change his story. Based on what Cen Muxiao knew of him, he still chose to believe him.
"If I wronged you, I'll apologize to you on his behalf."
"On his behalf?"
Guo Lantai had not expected Cen Muxiao to go this far for Song Anning, abandoning even his own pride to apologize for him. What a pity—Guo Lantai did not care for it!
"Then what do you want?"
Guo Lantai pointed at Song Anning, but his eyes remained fixed on Cen Muxiao. In all seriousness, he made his demand: "He apologizes, and you have to let me... move into your room!"
