"How about this? You tell me what happened to your eyes, and I'll tell you who hired me. Deal?"

Deadpool spoke as if he were utterly sincere and negotiating with the other man, but anyone who took him seriously would be a complete idiot.

Daredevil was obviously no idiot.

Nor could Daredevil be bothered to waste any more breath on Deadpool.

With a guy whose mouth was full of nonsense and who sounded unreliable at every turn, Daredevil could not trust a word he said.

Though he could hear people's heartbeats and use that to judge whether they were lying, that only worked on ordinary people.

It was completely useless against people with professional training, or those born shameless enough to lie without even blinking.

And the man before him fell into both categories.

"Don't worry. I'll make you tell me everything."

Daredevil said coldly, then charged straight at Deadpool and sent a flying kick at him.

"So cold! I was trying to bond with you!"

Deadpool quipped, tapping the wall with his right foot before launching himself away.

A metallic ring sounded out as the two swords on Deadpool's back were instantly drawn into his hands, flashing as he spun them in two arcs.

"Let's dance!"

"And by dance, I mean... kill each other!"

Deadpool charged at Daredevil with his swords drawn.

Daredevil rushed toward Deadpool as well.

The two clashed back and forth.

But before long, Daredevil was suppressed by Deadpool.

Though Daredevil's hand-to-hand combat skills were formidable, he was still far inferior to Deadpool.

After all, Deadpool could split bullets with his swords!

How could Daredevil defend against that?

Moreover, at this point, he had yet to make his own suit and weapons. Fighting Deadpool barehanded and without any protection put him at an even greater disadvantage.

Before long, Deadpool slashed Daredevil to the ground, leaving a long wound across his body.

And that was only the beginning.

Next—

Slash! Slash! Slash!

The sound of flesh being cut apart rang out without pause. Deadpool carved countless crisscrossing wounds across Daredevil's body.

By then, Daredevil's muscles were torn all over, and blood loss made his steps stagger.

Yet Daredevil was like an unkillable cockroach. Every time he was knocked to the ground, he gritted his teeth and got back up.

"What a tough guy. I really like tough guys."

"Three years ago, my household had a dog. Don't get me wrong, I'm not comparing you to it. We really did have a dog. Whenever I ate burgers or hot dogs, it would always try to steal them from me."

"Even though I beat it hard every time, it never learned its lesson. It was so stubborn that I had no choice but to kill it."

"I liked it, but I killed it in the end."

"Buddy, I like you too, but I'm still going to kill you."

Deadpool rambled through a pile of irrelevant nonsense, then performed a graceful flip and charged at Daredevil.

His two longswords suddenly swept out.

Daredevil's attacking motion abruptly froze.

Because one of Deadpool's swords had already sliced open Daredevil's throat.

Thud!

Daredevil fell straight to the ground.

The Daredevil who had crushed Hell's Kitchen's criminals so thoroughly they could barely breathe had reached the end of his life just like that.

It was truly regrettable.

Deadpool walked over, ripped off Daredevil's mask, and looked at his eyes.

They were wide open, unwilling to close even in death.

"Shit, he really was blind."

Deadpool muttered. A blind man was actually that powerful? There was no justice in the world.

"Your reputation is well deserved, Mr. Wade! That was truly eye-opening!"

A voice filled with admiration rang out as Wesley emerged from the darkness with a group of men.

Excitement shone uncontrollably on Wesley's face. Daredevil, his boss's greatest thorn in the side, was finally dead!

It had not been easy.

Wade had eliminated a major problem for his boss.

"If you really want to flatter me, I think it'd be better to give me something practical. Like adding another hundred grand to my fee?"

Deadpool looked at Wesley with complete seriousness.

"Mr. Wade, I have a better proposal. How about working for my boss?"

Wesley's little scheme clicked away in his head. "My boss values talent most of all. Forget a mere hundred thousand dollars—paying even more would not be a problem."

"Forget it. If someone hires me to kill your boss someday, should I kill him or not?" Deadpool said earnestly.

Wesley knew what Deadpool was like and did not take it to heart. He merely waved at one of his men, who immediately brought over a suitcase.

He opened it in front of Deadpool, revealing a case packed full of cash.

At a rough estimate, it was about one million dollars.

"Mr. Wade, this is your one million. Not a cent less." Wesley gestured toward Deadpool.

Deadpool snapped the case shut and picked it up, a pleased expression appearing on his face. "Great, I can buy another Devil Fruit."

After saying that, Deadpool began staring fixedly at Wesley, making Wesley's skin crawl.

"Mr. Wade, why are you looking at me like that?"

Wesley's asshole tightened slightly. This guy isn't lusting after my body, is he?

"Why didn't you ask me what a Devil Fruit is? Aren't you curious? Why do you always refuse to follow the script?"

Deadpool immediately unloaded on Wesley.

"All right then, Mr. Wade. What is a Devil Fruit?"

Wesley was in a good mood and did not argue with Deadpool. He even played along.

"Shit, was that sales pitch too forced? Manager, look how much I'm sacrificing for you!"

Deadpool muttered a few words before explaining to Wesley, "A Devil Fruit is a fruit that contains miraculous powers, like magical sorcery. My face was healed by a Devil Fruit."

"What a miraculous thing," Wesley replied perfunctorily. He did not believe such nonsense at all.

What kind of bullshit was that? Eating a fruit could restore a disfigured face? Did he think he was writing a novel?

"That's right, it's incredibly miraculous. If your boss ate a Devil Fruit, he could kill Daredevil himself and would not need to hire me at all."

"Anyway, go back and tell your boss that Devil Fruits are such miraculous things. Otherwise, it'll be your loss!"

After saying that, Deadpool ignored Wesley, carried the suitcase, and vanished into the night.

Wesley walked over to Daredevil's corpse and looked at his face.

He was instantly taken aback. "It's him?"

To think it was that blind lawyer!

Matt Murdock!

Both Wesley and Kingpin had dealt with Matt Murdock before, but they had never imagined that a man they would not normally spare a second thought for was actually the Daredevil who had caused them so many headaches.

As for Deadpool's talk about Devil Fruits, Wesley had long since thrown it to the back of his mind.

Not even children would believe that kind of nonsense, much less Wesley.
