Background / History

Thor is the son of Odin and initially defines himself through Mjolnir and his status as Asgard’s God of Thunder. After Odin exiles him to New Mexico and removes his Divine Power, Thor arrives on Earth powerless. Jane Foster finds him after he falls from the sky, while S.H.I.E.L.D. initially confines him as a delusional homeless man. Coulson eventually allows Thor to attempt to retrieve Mjolnir, but Thor cannot move it. 293

Loki exploits Thor’s vulnerability by falsely telling him that Odin has died and that Thor has lost his Thunder Power. Thor’s despair deepens when Loki, empowered by the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, lifts Mjolnir and claims the title of God of Thunder for himself. 298 299
