History
Bian He is already wearing a Bite Guard when Wan Ying questions him about his name after acquiring him from the auction. Wan Ying notes its cold surface while touching it 3.
During a car ride, Bian He produces a silver Bite Guard and asks Wan Ying to put it on him, admitting that he may hurt him as his poppy-scented pheromones begin to leak uncontrollably 5. Later, while Wan Ying sleeps at the Tribe, Bian He removes the guard before releasing stronger pheromones around him, but stops himself from going further 11.
The restraint becomes central to Bian He's management of pheromone disorder. After losing control and injuring teammates, he declares that he will wear it at all times rather than risk harming anyone again 37. He explains to Wan Ying that he has worn it habitually because others regarded him as a monster and felt safer approaching him only when it was on 38.
